@adamsmith you're 100% correct. In at least my fields of psychology (social/personality), the changes you're making are 100% correct. None of our journals ever disambiguate by initials or first name, because the purpose of disambiguation is to poi…

@bwiernik That seems correct to me. In actual research and publishing settings in psychology, in all versions of APA style (at least for the past 12+ years), we have never disambiguated, for example, a paper written by John Smith (2001) and Jane Sm…

I agree with you that Zotero shouldn't assume that /^J\.$/ and /^J[a-z]+$/ are the same name. However, I think that's a slightly different issue from just comparing initials. I'm suggesting that Zotero merely clean up the initials (i.e., put the…

Thanks, Adam. That's marginally quicker than disabling Zotero. I'd still suggest a temporary disable button at the time of redirect.

Thanks for the link to the other thread. Even after reading the other thread, I still think this is an issue with Zotero that should be fixed. Is there any reason why Zotero should try to sync every hour (rather than just after changes are made)? …

Perfect. Thanks.

That makes sense. Thanks for the tip. An RTF scan would be great, but it'd have to be really flexible. For example, how do you make it detect and properly convert all possible citation styles? (Even just in APA:) (Roberts, Smith, & Jones, 2…

I don't fully understand what's possible given your system, but here are a few ideas. 1. Rather than "copying" the citation from Zotero upon drag-and-drop, is it possible to merely pass a vector of all of the "ID" numbers of the articles to the Wor…

The answer is local/no/yes. I'm having a bit of difficulty capturing the error with the Debugger. (When I turn on the Debugger, check "Enable after restart" and then restart Firefox, I'm not getting the error.) I'll keep trying to capture the bug…
