I had seen it, but I had asked you to follow a specific format as I just don't have the time (and patience) to decipher a huge block of information. So, it's not on the top of my list, I'm afraid.

Can you post a link to the citation guidelines that show this requirement as well as a link to a public paper so we can double check this? then it's easier for us to make such an edit of the citation style.

It's easier to specifically help you if you told us which style you're using or if you shared your custom style via pastebin.com (or similar). But as an example this includes the original date in a year-date macro.

If you switch to APA they also stay the way there were? If so, make sure they are active citation. If not something is going on with your document. See https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/existing_citations_not_detected

Does the journal just say "use Vancouver" or do they have specific guidelines beyond that? If you give us the name and a link to their guidelines it's easier for us to give advice.
