Java is irrelevant to the "OpenOffice could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure Firefox is open and try again" error message; this message indicates a failure before Java is initialized. Port 50001 is also irrelevant in Zotero 2.0+, which ope…

I was able to replicate this, and it should be fixed for the next beta.

Do you have ZoneAlarm Forcefield installed?
-
We could potentially set the referrer to the page being translated automatically. Would this be sufficient to make this case work?
-
Actually, I played around with this a little more and there may be a solution. Word also provides a color index property, which seems to work if the color is automatic. (Unfortunately, it has a very limited set of values, but since otherwise Word do…
-
Are you on a Mac? I just tested and this seems to work on Windows, but doesn't work on OS X because of a bug in Word. Zotero asks Word for the text color before inserting the note, and then restores it afterwards. If the text color is set to automat…

First, try restarting your computer and disabling all add-ons but Zotero. If that doesn't work, follow these instructions to report the error.
-
Standalone 2.1a3, available now, supports Mac OS X 10.5, but Word integration will not work.
-
Oops. I re-read your post and saw that "Run as Administrator" doesn't work under your normal account, so it no longer seems like a permissions issue to me. I guess this leaves some kind of incompatibility with something else on your machine, but why…
-
To test whether the issue is related to administrator settings, I created a standard (non-administrator) user, logged in and was able to run the standalone. So the issue is then local to my regular windows account, i.e., there is either a conflict w…

Yes, in 2.1b7.

Zotero already has a "Library Catalog" field for this, although I don't think CSL has a variable to map it to.
-
That's a different message. Can you provide a report ID?
-
Since you mention NeoOffice, I assume you're on OS X. You can either change your Java configuration as described here, or try the trunk OpenOffice.org plug-in.
-
It may also be possible to reinstall ZoneAlarm without installing ForceField.
-
I think this is a systematic issue, but you will be happy to know that it will work in 2.1a3, due out in a couple of days.
-
This has to do with word processors not being very good at reading HTML. I'll see if we can do something about this.
-
Are you logged in as an administrator? This error indicates that you don't have the necessary permission to install the Word plug-in.
-
Thanks. This is fixed for 2.1b7.

Fixed for 2.1b7. Thanks.

It looks like the problem was with the translator, which calls Zotero.done() after each item save. The connector server is apparently picky about this. We have plans to eliminate Zotero.done() in the future, but for now, this is probably the cause o…

I think I've fixed the item selection window issues. I'm looking into the search results. We don't put the POST data from the connectors into the debug output because for detection and translation, the connector sends the page source over the chann…

This is a known issue with bookmarks and certain builds of OpenOffice.org based on go-oo. Use ReferenceMarks, or install an updated version of OpenOffice.org.
-
Go to Tools->Add-ons->Extensions and remove Zotero OpenOffice.org Integration.
-
I can only reproduce this if I try to use a style that doesn't define a bibliography (e.g. Chicago Note without Bibliography), although I've fixed it there for 2.1b7. MLA is certainly working fine for me. Can you try resetting translators and styles?
-
What style are you using? Does this happen with any item, or just specific items?
-
Standalone has exactly the same requirements as Firefox 4. Are you sure you extracted the entire contents of the zip file?
-
You're running a 32-bit version of Firefox on 64-bit Linux, which apparently delivers a strange architecture string in newer Firefox 4 betas. We should fix Zotero to recognize it, but in any case it's probably best to download the x86_64 version of …

Fixed for 2.1b7. Thanks.

Zotero didn't cause that error and it would not affect its operation. Can you explain the problem in more detail?
