I don't understand how it works. I tried installing the Abbreviation Filter but I don't see it in the Word plug in when I click on "add-ins" Where do I find it and how does one use it? thanks

I am still working with chapters all combined in one large document for convenience in editing. At some point closer to publication, in order to solve the problem of needing full citations for sources needed I will want to break down the chapters in…
-
In the meantime, I was able to save time in converting my citations with The New York Times to NYT by doing an advanced search in my Zotero library, entering The New York Times in the window for "Publication" and clicking on search. I had to enter N…

How does one use a serious text editor. I saw on Zotero actions > preferences > advanced that there is a csl editor but I did not know how to use it properly. I bet it is not that hard and I welcome your instruction.

I wrote too soon! I got it working. There were more of those strings than I thought and then I realized Notepad was saving it as a (useless) *.txt file instead of retaining its .csl extension. That was easy to fix once I realized what I was doing…

I thought I could do this but I'm not getting abbreviated months in the citations I've experimented with. I went into the csl file Zotero is using, cmos chicago-fullnote-bibliography-no-ibid.csl and I found the two "date-part ..." strings you de…

Thanks.

I'm using Chicago Manual of Style full notes with Word 2010 on a Windows 7 platform

How do I change the date abbreviations first? I'm not sure I want to risk the citation abbreviations. When do you expect an upgrade that can handle batch editing of entries?
-
Does CMS specify they want the date the website was created in the citation? I have never seen that in a published work, only the "accessed date..."
-
I gather from the other thread that there is some question as to whether CMS actually requires the "accessed Month, day, year" in the citation. I'm happy to omit it if that is the case. I'm still not sure I understand how to fix the other problem, …

I notice it is slower than with small documents when inserting citations, but I have a big desktop PC with lots of RAM and it seems to work without problems. The file is 526kb and contains about 103k words, so this is a big document. But I'm at the …

Thanks. I will most likely keep my book all in one document, which solves so many other editing problems, and will work around the problem of first citations in new chapters with manual entries.
-
MS Word controls whether numbering starts from 1 with each new chapter. Zotero controls whether a citation is the first or not the first in the document. But Zotero cannot detect if it is the first in the document section? Is that what I'm being …

Oops. Somehow my citation style got changed from Chicago Style to some other. Problem solved.
-
Thanks, I can see that now and was able to make corrections quickly. A reminder not to clean out my Zotero duplicates without being more careful!
-
Thanks, that did it, and I'll remember in the future. It had me stumped.
-
Apologies, I misstated my problem. This is in the TITLE of the book a biography of Agenor de Gasparin and it is in the title that I am having the recurring DE problem.
-
this is an endnote in Chicago full note style.
-
I'm sorry but I don't follow: do I need to change the defaults in Word? I thought I was working within a template that defined endnotes in the style indicated. Zotero seems to override these preferences.
-
Thanks; that was it.
-
How do I check/change that?
-
Thanks. This is a problem that does not come up often, but I'll look forward to the new version for a final fix and meanwhile do a work around.

The NYT is saved as a "newspaper article" I understand how to edit the citation by hand. I would welcome a way to trim them all down. I see what you mean by having the link in the snapshot. Here is a sample citation: “The Conservative…

Thanks so much adamsmith. Instant solution and now I can read without squinting. I'll just change the font if I want to copy and paste notes into my MS.
-
Yes, I see that. I can go to a larger font for future notes; I gather there is no way to magnify or change the font of notes already entered. All the other fonts in Zotero are very easy to read, and I can adjust the size of all text ... EXCEPT that…

By "notes" I do not mean citations but the yellow sticky note like text that I use to extract quotes or make comments on the sources.

Like many who are posting in the last day or two, I am having problems editing citations after upgrading to FF8. I can enter citations, but I get an error message when I try to edit any citation: Zotero experienced an error updating your document. T…

I'm using a Windows platform ... are you sure you mean Zotero Word for Mac ...?

I am having similar problems after upgrading to FF8. I can enter citations, but I get an error message when I try to edit any citation: Zotero experienced an error updating your document. This method or prperty is not available because the object …
