Could you provide more detail on how you are downloading this RIS file? I just tried downloading a RIS file from JSTOR and it imported correctly into Zotero. Please provide a link to the item you are downloading the RIS file for and provide us with…

it seems that there is some misunderstanding of how and from where Zotero is able to import items. Please take a look at http://www.zotero.org/support/getting_stuff_into_your_library Zotero can only import items from pages that it can find bibliogr…

could you describe what's happening in some more detail? which web pages are you attempting to import pdfs from? what do you mean by "nothing happens"? do you have access to these pdfs? have you looked through http://www.zotero.org/support/quick_s…

it shows the number of attachments

I'm sure Dan checked this in the Report ID, but what version of Firefox are you running? Also try disabling all other addons.
-
I've given this issue some thought as well. The way I see this implemented is via Shift clicking tags. When shift-clicking, you would be able to select multiple tags and then hit an Apply button to apply this set of tags as an OR filter. Normal clic…

please provide sample URLs for items that do not import properly.

Seems to be working fine on my end. Please go through steps 3, 4, 5, 11 here http://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues Also let us know which Zotero you are using (Firefox plugin or Standalone with a connector and which brows…

Zotero deliberately does not download pdfs from the right hand column of Google scholar, since these pdf's do not always match the citation on the left apparently afaik. That's incorrect. Zotero deliberately _does_ download PDFs from Google Scholar,…
-
@Dan, Simon Could you take a look at what is failing there? What string is being searched? Maybe the PDF is not OCR'ed?
-
The Retrieve Metadata function works fine for me for the PDF you link to. See if you can perform Google Scholar searches manually (if you perform a lot of Google Scholar searches in a short period of time, you may get locked out) If you can, and t…

We would need to see the PDF. If this is a paper available online (even if it requires a subscription), please provide a link. Otherwise you may have to email it to Zotero. Is PDF recognition working for any other PDFs?
-
Also, FYI, Zotero tries to follow the RIS specification summarized here very closely. Patents are about 2/3 down the page.

we could have recursive scraping working tomorrow. I'm not too excited about trying to parse first names from formatted citations.
-
I think we just need to make this recursive. I'm just waiting to hear any thoughts on whether we need to make users able to disable recursive scraping. it would solve a lot of problems.
-
AFAIK, this is a general problem with the way connectors function. You'll probably have better luck with this using Zotero for Firefox for now.
-
Are you using Zotero for Firefox or Zotero Standalone (and which browser)?
-
@Dan, you're right. The number of connections is in fact limited. From what I can tell it's limited to 6 connections on my setup (by the network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server). So it seems to be working fine. I don't think we need to wo…

Translate: Unknown RIS item type: Book. Defaulting to journalArticle This should now be fixed. You can wait for the translators to update automatically or update manually via Gears menu -> Preferences -> General -> Update Now.

I glanced through the debug log, and what stood out to me most was: Translate: Unknown RIS item type: Book. Defaulting to journalArticle @aurimas - any thoughts on whether to do that in RIS or in the EBSCO translator? I think this is safe to do in …

I'm not really sure what the appropriate behavior is here. We can easily save the links even when snapshots are disabled, but then should we also save snapshots as links if they don't have the same URL as the item? I don't see a general use case fo…

See if you can find a way to download articles in XML format. When looking at the individual article page, I can see buttons for printing, saving, emailing, downloading PDF, and downloading RTF. Zotero needs to be able to download articles in XML fo…
-
@Simon, Dan Is this behavior intentional or just an oversight? IMO it doesn't make sense that disabling file attachments should disable link attachments.
-
The log is probably quite large. It should have been submitted for the report ID that you provided, so no need to post the actual log (though, if you wish, you may post it on a website like gist.github.com or pastebin.com). The Zotero core developer…

Thats why we disabled this automatic link now. What do you mean by disabled the link? Did you edit the PubMed translator to no longer attach the link? If so, you can also edit the translator to store that same URL in newItem.url
-
see first section here http://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output instead of submitting to Zotero server, you can view output.
-
Just so it's clear what's happening, since the pubmed URL is not longer stored in the URL field and this field is empty, Zotero uses the DOI to redirect you to the article. This should happen for closed or open access publications as long as there …

Embedded Metadata translator should work in Chrome. I see that it's crashing on those two pages. @Dan or Simon, I'm getting Translate: Detect using Embedded Metadata failed: string => TypeError: Cannot call method 'getID' of undefined stack =&g…

It's not orthodox but what about adding a dedicated field for these URLs? Under "Library Catalog" and "Call Number". I suppose you mean that we should use the additional field along with an option that allows users to either include this field in t…

Sorry for not chiming in earlier. I'm the one who actually made the change to the PubMed translator, but the idea that URLs to items in catalogs should be stored as attachments instead of the URL field has been around at least since 2006 (http://for…
