What version of Zotero do you have? (Gears menu -> About Zotero) Could you describe to us exactly how you are exporting the items? I.e. what do you select right before exporting the items and how do you begin the export? A screenshot of your lib…

I'm a bit busy atm, so I wouldn't have it done maybe for a week or so. I put it on my list of things to do, but if you want to have a stab at it, you're welcome to do it :-) Unless you are already working on this.

Unfortunately, we cannot currently import items from pages like that (and we should not be displaying a Zotero icon for them, but, unfortunately, that slipped through). The current translator can only import from pages that have an "Export citation"…
-
I've pushed out an update for this. You can wait up to 24 hours for the translator to update automatically, or update manually from Gears menu -> Preferences -> General -> Update Now Let us know if things aren't working.
-
while that sounds right, the attitude that you should not be able to export your citations and move to a different tool still bothers me.

@DWL-SDCA The author name should be formatted AU - Lastname,Firstname That is, with no space between the comma and the first name. Documentation provided at http://www.refman.com/support/risformat_intro.asp shows that there is a space after comma. …

Indeed. I fixed it and I'll push the update out later today. I want to incorporate one last change into RIS translator before sending this out to everyone.
-
@DWL - maybe you can connect with Aurimas via private message or github to get him access to an account to write a translator (aka fulfil the hacker version of a revenge fantasy ;-)). Hehe, I did get access to their website. They have a way to sign…

wow... this makes me want to go out of my way and write a translator for this website.

What do you think about this? That's more or less the logic I would follow. I think the first thing to do would be to make Google Scholar (and PubMed, since it's long been requested) into a recursive translator. That is, have them follow links and …

I was able to create a NoodleTools MLA Lite account. Oddly enough, they don't even request an email account. Looking through their knowledgebase and analyzing the bibliography page itself, I do not see any easy way to transfer data from their websi…

Most of the relevant code is in https://github.com/zotero/zotero/blob/master/chrome/content/zotero/recognizePDF.js If a DOI is found inside the PDF we query CrossRef for metadata, which is fairly accurate and complete, but might not include abstrac…

I wonder if the meta tag would be available from pages like http://psycnet.apa.org/journals/xge/139/4/743.html It might be worthwhile to try and fetch pdf link from '//li[@class="rdPDF" or contains(@class,"ftPDF")][1]/a/@href' if we get nothing fro…

30,000 items would take a while to import. If I understand correctly, Zotero does not choke on any one part of your library (when you try to import by pieces). That is, if it gets stuck and you try to redo the import, everything goes through properl…

I don't think we will be able to address this until the next Zotero release. In the mean time, I would suggest importing fewer articles at a time and retrying import if it fails. It looks like this is triggered by page timeouts, which, from my testi…

May I ask where you are transferring your database from? If you need to do so much editing or manual entry, it sounds like something is not working well for you in Zotero

Sorry, I fixed the shortcut. I guess you were too fast. It's alt+f9

If you want to find out which collection a particular item is in, take a look here: http://www.zotero.org/support/collections_and_tags#identifying_which_collections_an_item_is_in I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "searching My Library"

I made that last post in a bit of a rush, so I just wanted to clear some things up. First, a bit on UTF-8 and ISO-8859-1 (or any other 8-bit encoding scheme). ISO-8859-1 uses 1 byte (8 bits) to encode a character that gets displayed on your screen.…
-
This is UTF8 being interpreted as ISO-8859-1. There are other ways to re-encode this, but you can go to http://www.unicodetools.com/unicode/utf8-to-latin-converter.php paste your text and concert from UTF8 to Latin

It's the RIS.js in your Zotero Profiles folder

@Simon or Dan, Looking at the code, it seems that this should have generated a log message (utilities_translate.js#L415 -> translate.js#L1155). Since there is no log message, (A) was there no error, (B) was the error mishandled and never made it…
-
OK, I think I figured it out. In both of your reports one item never completes (they never manage to get RIS data) In the first one (https://gist.github.com/3770531), item (35) never completes and in the second (https://gist.github.com/3772358), i…

Unfortunately none of those errors are related to Zotero's operation. There are a few warnings at the end of the log, but nothing serious. That's also not quite the debug log that I was referring to in my previous posts. 1) Before we do much more d…

MAG, as adamsmith said, it is not clear what you are trying to say. Please start a new thread and provide more detailed description of what you are trying to do. Importing a list of ISBN numbers has been requested previously and will probably be in…

* SHOULD this process be sensitive to external inputs etc (I noticed before too that I couldn't use that computer for anything else, or else the download would not work). No, this should not be the case other than refreshing or navigating away from …

When Zotero is not open, the Chrome connector saves directly to zotero.org server, which introduces even more complexity to this process. I have tried what you describe and I cannot replicate the error, but as you say, it is not very consistent. If…
