This is most likely the correct behaviour according to the citation style that you use. Especially if you are citing an item that you have already cited in the document before.
-
You should begin by restarting Zotero. If this still happens, restart Zotero and provide a Debug ID from Zotero for an attempt to perform an operation that causes this issue.
-
Provide a Report ID after you notice this having happened. Does refreshing the page fix the issue? Switching to a different tab and switching back?
-
You could follow Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents steps, particularly the final one, and try to isolate the issue in a smaller document. If you can't figure out what's causing it, share it with us and we'll investigate.

I'm a bit at a loss of what to suggest at this point. The function you ran in AppleScript above is effectively the same one that Zotero run, when deciding whether your Word cursor is already in a citation, and whether Zotero opens the citation dialo…

It seems that all these citations for which you are getting a Zotero dialog contain a preceding extra space symbol " ", which is why you are getting these prompts. Did anything recently changed in the way you work with the document? Different compu…

Provide a Debug ID from Zotero, not the Connector.

@asqres You should make sure that all other versions of Zotero that you have installed via snap and flatpak are completely removed. Then, tell us how you launch Zotero. Both this issue, and the issue in the other thread are consistent with having Zo…

@burgarth Could you provide a screenshot of the issue?

Does this happen in a new Chrome profile? Could you create a screen recording of the issue?

You should make sure you are running the latest version of Word (there have been multiple bugfixes to 2511). Did this work before on this machine? Have you tried restarting your computer? Do you run any security software and could you try disabling …

@abejellinek Seems to be a translator issue.

You've probably installed Zotero as a flatpak. That is not recommended and you should use one of the official ways to install https://www.zotero.org/support/installation

Those citations don't look like they have been inserted with Zotero. Or they may have been unlinked, see Existing Citations Not Detected.

Would you download this script, open it and press Run the Script button (triangle) in Script Editor, while having your Word document open and the cursor placed in a Zotero citation. You will see a dialog in Word which will either say "Found citation…

Citing in tables with Zotero is largely unsupported, or might work poorly. This is a limitation of Word Processor APIs that we are unable to work around.
-
Please test whether you cannot edit citations in a new document in a new account, not your existing one, with a style using endnotes, and also footnotes, and whether it works with either.

We recommend updating to the latest version of Build 19426.20218. If that doesn't help, you will have to follow Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents

You should check your router/network access point to make sure some firewall rule is not triggering on your laptop. Otherwise, you will need someone to troubleshoot this as a network problem that it seems to be, which is outside the scope of our sup…

How are you moving these citations? Create a screen recording.

Please submit a Debug ID from Zotero for an attempt to insert a citation. Also see Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents

Yeah, your Debug ID still shows Zotero Connector trying to connect to the V2 endpoint. Could you take another screenshot of what your config looks like now? Another thing to try is creating a temporary new user account on your mac and testing whethe…

Another extension could be intercepting/blocking requests that Zotero tries to make to Google Docs API. See Report ID for how to generate a Report ID.
-
Could you produce another Debug ID from Zotero? Could you also produce a Report ID from Zotero Connector? Could you try disabling any extensions that you use, if any, and see if that helps?
