Are you sure saving on MathSciNet works? I get the "Saving to..." message, but the progress window disappears and nothing is ever saved in my library. Seems that the translator does not detect any valid items. Might just be a translator issue.

If you cannot see Zotero toolbar in Word go to Zotero Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors and click the Install/Reinstall button. Copy the error message you get from Zotero exactly as you see it when trying to change the reference style. I…

We will need more context to be able to help you. See the reporting problems guide and try to provide as much details as possible.

Thanks for providing detailed steps. If you managed to figure out the steps to reach such broken state from a fresh document - that would be excellent. I tried testing with a fresh document by saving as .odt first, converting to .doc, editing in Wor…

The debug log shows that there is some successful communication between Word and Zotero, but it fails while trying to set citation text in the document. This is the only report of this problem we have received (I believe ever) and most likely relate…

Does this happen on every site? If you go to extension preferences, does it say that Zotero is available? If not you should look here. If Zotero is available, could you provide a Debug ID for a save operation?
-
@nyakashiro You need to click on "Report ID" in dstillman's post which takes you to a page that describes how to submit a Report ID. I am not entirely sure what the string you provided above is, but it is incorrect (Report IDs only ever contain numb…

@nanochemista This is a MacOS bug, so while the problems might seem related, it is most likely something else. Start a new thread describing your problem in detail after reading the Reporting Problems guide.

If you use Zotero Standalone the LibreOffice plugin updates automatically. Although I am not sure where you are trying to perform this update. There is no "update" option within Tools -> Add-ons. Either way, if editing your document works fine, …

The plugin for LibreOffice has not been updated for nearly 2 years and the latest version is 3.5.9. There are no known LibreOffice plugin compatibility issues with both Zotero 4.0 and Zotero 5.0 beta. What kind of update did you perform? Are you st…

What kind of update did you perform? This might help https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#debugging_broken_documents

Did this begin happening recently? Were there any system changes (big software installs or updates) on your machine recently?
-
First of all, thanks for providing steps to reproduce the issue, we'll look into fixing it. Secondly, you might want to try pressing Ctrl-Z/Cmd-Z multiple times (if you still have the document open). At the moment Zotero insertions into documents a…

"chrome" in the URLs just points to the code of the application (firefox or zotero standalone respectively). Not related to google chrome. Is this a new problem with an existing document? Does a fresh document work fine? What version of word is it?…
-
@Rintze I have thought about this myself and agree that something like this is needed. No timeline for the moment though.

Are you sure the crashes are related to retrieving article metadata? (You do know that the primary way to add items to Zotero is by using the Zotero extension in your browser? Adding pdfs and retrieving metadata is a non-standard approach.) If you…

While people do have these problems from time to time, they are due to corrupted field codes in the document (either by user mistake or sometimes bugs in Zotero) and are rarely possible to be fixed automatically. In this scenario, I am afraid, you p…

@adamsmith -- There has been. I've only just recently started digging around in word processor plugin code and I'm still fairly clueless about the bulk of it (8 years of code!) aside from the fact that the parts that do the actual heavy-lifting of c…

That would be caused by you accidentally editing the codes you were seeing. If you have a backup of the document (which you should always keep), you could try working from that. Otherwise see https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_trou…

You should make sure you have not edited any of the code you see as that might break existing citations. Press Alt+F9 (or Fn+Alt+F9, if your F keys perform media actions by default). That will make the codes disappear.

Zotero 5.0 will only provide a desktop client (no more full-fledged Firefox addon). Instead Firefox gets a connector like the one for Chrome and Safari. To read more about Zotero 5.0 (currently in Beta) see: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/598…

Just to clarify, on your old Dell the operations were how fast? 10s? 1s?
-
Okay. We can't promise any quick fixes for this, but if you have an Office 2010 licence it might be worth a shot trying to use that. Otherwise see suggestions from bwiernik above. It's certainly a problem with Word 2013 or newer versions of Windows…

Seems like there are a lot of citations in this document (upwards of 200?) Zotero tends to be slow with that many and we recommend splitting documents into chapters. However, sounds like updating/inserting was relatively fast on your old machine? …
-
Is this on a new document? If not, could you try it with a new document? Otherwise could you provide a Debug ID for an insertion attempt that does not work?
-
If you could use the technique 8 as described in document debugging instructions and isolate a problematic citation, then send that to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread, I could look into it. It could be just broken bookmarks in the docu…

We'd rather keep that off the official Zotero support pages as that indicates some official support. The solution is a fairly big hack, can break at any point, and we do not test or develop for these sorts of configurations, so any update could brea…

Zotero Word integration on non-native environments is not officially supported, but people have managed to get it to work with wine before https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/12426/word-intergration-with-wine
