@Saffron%20Woodcraft you should go into Zotero -> Tools -> Add-ons and make sure Zotero Word Integration plugin is enabled, which might fix it. @Orphée and @Saffron%20Woodcraft you will need to create new threads for your issues as they are d…

For good measure, have you tried restarting?

Are you saying that the problem wasn't present and started occurring recently, even though you had updated to Word 16.9+ a while ago? Were there any recent system changes on your system?

If you insert the footnote manually from within Word and then try to insert the citation within the footnote, do you still see this issue?
-
Let's focus on Word issues here. The LibreOffice issues are unlikely to be related, but you can start a separate forum thread for them and we can try to help. What citation style do you use? If you change to a different footnote style or select end…

Sorry, I missed your response. Do you see this in a new document? If so, what are the steps to reproduce the issue?
-
Unfortunately Zotero (and other citation managers) do get slow with thousands of citations in a document. From the looks of your reports, Word is crashing during various operations and also likely due to the size of the document. Your best bet is t…

Could you produce a startup Debug ID? You will need to enable debug logging after restart, restart Zotero, attempt to use the Word extension, then submit the Debug ID and post it here.

For good measure, have you tried restarting your computer?

Next time this happens could you try reopening Word and seeing if you insert/edit in the same location that you did just before the crash, whether that triggers it again?
-
This is generally a LibreOffice issue, so if the solutions you've found on this forum (e.g. deleting the user settings directory) did not help, you should to post to LibreOffice support and see if they have something else to suggest.

How many citations do you have in this document? Have you tried moving it out of onedrive and has that helped with insertion speed? Can you reproduce this error consistenly - if you go to the location in the document that caused the crash and try to…

Sorry about that. We're still looking for a solution. We have had users report that the crash only occurs when inserting in certain locations in their documents and not others. If you can reproduce something like that, could you isolate a snippet of…

Does your user account have write permissions in the path that LibreOffice is listing? Removing C:\Users\Topo\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice completely might fix it (it should reset LibreOffice user settings, so if you have heavily customized it, you s…

Could you try to install the safari connector on another user account on your mac (Guest should work) and see if you can at least get into the Connector preferences?

I don't think we've ever seen this specific error before. You should try reinstalling JRE and installing LibreOffice 6.0.
-
Go into the extension manager in LibreOffice and remove the Zotero extension (if present), then press Add, navigate to the extension oxt file and try adding it. If you get an error message, please post the error message here exactly as you see it. …

You should ensure that there is a JRE option in LibreOffice and that it is selected https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#libreoffice

Could you provide the URL of the page that fails?

@AlxTa could you isolate a snippet of a document (either by creating it from an empty document or copying from an existing one) in which there exists: 1. A location in which inserting citations is fine 2. A location in which inserting citations pro…

What you were probably seeing at home was saving to Zotero server and syncing down to your client. Bookmarklet saving to local Zotero instance has been disabled on Chrome for a few years now, because of browser security features that restrict the ho…

Does it help if you go into Zotero Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors and reinstall the Word plugin?

Start by submitting a Report ID.

Are you on campus? Do you have access to these PDFs from your browser? If you navigate to the page of the PDF itself and click the Zotero button, does the PDF save occur?

We'd need more info about your setup. Is this multiple machines or multiple people editing? What are the conditions under which you see crashing? Could you submit a Report ID?

For people that can fairly consistently produce Word crashing with the latest version of Zotero (5.0.35.1), could you test a few more things? 1. What are your system specs - processor and RAM available? 2. Is the crashing reduced if you disable any…
