Do you have the Zotero application installed on your computer, or is it only the browser extension? If so, what version of Word, Operating System and Zotero are you running?

What version of Word and Operating System are you working on? Have you tried seeing whether it well in a new document? Regarding bibliography editing the feature works without problems, but if you are seeing other issues in your document, bibliogra…

Did you synchronize your Windows and Mac Word installations somehow? It seems that you have a Zotero Word for Mac version of the plugin installed within Word. You might need to follow the manual installation instructions, remove the existing Zotero.…

@innertron does it happen in a new document? What are the steps to reproduce it?

Do you have other browser extensions that modify Google Docs? Have you tried disabling any of those?
-
Have you tried manual installation instructions? Have you checked what is the Word startup location? Please tell if you find out that it differs from the default listed on the page.

Could you submit a Report ID? Is this your first time using Zotero or has the plugin worked before?

Does it work well in a new document? Does it work if you refresh the browser tab with the document?

Are you seeing (1) "This command is not available because no document is open" or (2) "This command is not available because no document is open" now? You really shouldn't get (1) on blank documents and that indicates a bigger problem. What OS are y…

What happens if you open Word and try using the integration in a blank document? What if you open your document from OneDrive and no other Word windows?
-
You either need to save the document somewhere on your hard drive or use the Zotero Beta where this is fixed. The fix will be available in the next Zotero update.
-
Well your software seems to be up to date and this is not a general bug so you will have to debug your template.
-
Very likely that something in your template is breaking Zotero integration. If you cannot find a way to fix this, the easiest workaround might be to just treat the first footnote in the document as reserved for "fixing" citing and remove it when you…

Run through the debugging broken documents steps.

You cannot insert citations in Google Docs within links. In Word I don't think there's any condition that would trigger this error at the moment, unless you have not updated the plugin in a while (Zotero Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors).
-
Go into Zotero Connector Preferences -> Proxies. Select your proxy and in the bottom box uncheck "Automatically convert between dots and hyphens in proxied hostnames".
-
Aside from resetting your word user options (see link above), there's little we can suggest. It's a Word problem, so you're better off posting on Microsoft forums somewhere.
-
What is the path to your Word startup folder? What version of Word is this? Ideally you would set your Word startup folder to the default location and let Zotero handle the installation, but otherwise, you should try the manual installation steps ag…

Something is wrong with your Zotero installation. In your original post you cited an error that could only occur if you used a Zotero.dotm file intended for Word for Mac, which you normally cannot get, unless you download the Zotero macOS version, o…

Wait.. Why do you have the Word for Mac template installed into Word if you are on Windows. Did you manually install it? You should use the Word for Windows Zotero plugin along with the relevant Word template file.
-
I'd suggest starting by updating Word for Mac to the latest version and seeing if it still occurs. If it does, we really won't be able to help until you manage to find a pattern or a piece of text that's causing the error consistently.
-
@agnes123 What is the path to your Word application?
-
Try working with the Beta Connector.
-
Try the Beta Connector and see whether it works correctly there.
-
There was a Zotero sync running when you produced this Debug ID. Could you produce another Debug ID for the page save when Zotero is not syncing?
-
How big is your document? How long do you wait until you see an error message?
-
Try installing the Zotero Beta and see whether it works.

Let's solve the issue for Word in this thread and create a new thread if Zotero isn't working completely on a different computer. Have you checked in Word what the startup location of Word is set to? https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_pl…

Does inserting bibliography work in a new document? What happens if you try to change the citation style?
