Could you download RotView and run it with Word? Open the document you performed the above operations for the debug log, then run RotView. You should see the document path listed in the Display Name. Save the file in Word. Press "Refresh" in Rotview…

@sourishbasu In Zotero document preferences do you have "Automatic citation updates" unticked?
-
Can you use the Google Docs version history to see whether there was some sort of big edit to that part of the document at some point? Note that the point at which the unlinked citations appeared is not the same. Zotero only notices unlinked citatio…

@DavidTf Could you produce a Debug ID from Zotero? 1. In the Zotero Help menu, go to Debug Output Logging and select Enable. 2. Open a document on disk, add a citation with Zotero, then save the Word file and perform another Zotero operation that f…

Does it work in a new document? If yes, see debugging broken documents

You might have better luck with Firefox for Android, or by using https://www.zotero.org/save . Modern browsers are becoming more and more restrictive about third-party frames and cookies, which is great for privacy reasons, but unfortunately often b…

You should still try to reinstall Zotero. The error you're receiving indicates that Zotero is unable to load that dll file, either because something is preventing it from accessing it or it is corrupt.
-
If you go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Zotero\extensions\zoteroWinWordIntegration@zotero.org\resource\ is there a libzoteroWinWordIntegration.dll file in there? If not, start by reinstalling Zotero. If there is, you should see if you have any antiviru…

Could you submit a Report ID from the Connector?
-
You would have to uninstall your current installation of Office and download a 64-bit version of Office from Microsoft and install it.
-
The paperpile extension is very likely the issue. You should temporarily disable it (or any other potentially interfering extensions), restart your browser and check if it works then.
-
That will work. Out of curiosity how big is the document? How many citations? macOS and LibreOffice has had a difficult history in general since few LibreOffice devs use macOS and it's undersupported compared to Linux or Windows, but it's got much b…

We haven't been able to figure out a solution for this error unfortunately, but it has something to do with Word or macOS configuration. My latest advice on the issue is here https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/346503/#Comment_346503

I'm assuming this is quite a big document you're working on? Does the plugin behave well in a new document? If so, see debugging broken documents

All of Zotero is opensource, including the Connector. This isn't a priority for us, but if you submit a PR for this with a hidden pref we will accept it. Post on the Zotero Dev mailing list if you need guidance.

Did the Word document have Zotero citations in it? If yes, did you use the citations transfer procedure? If not, what are you trying to do in the document when you get the stuck on "Zotero is updating your document"?
-
Restarting Zotero has no effect on the citation links in Google Documents. Only editing the documents would. Are you editing with a browser that has the Zotero Connector installed?
-
Do you actually press Enter in the citation dialog? That should close the citation dialog and insert the citation. Is this macOS or Windows?
-
This usually means that Zotero and Word run with a different privilege status, e.g. one running as Administrator and normally. The quick way to check this is to force both to run as Administrator and see if it works. If it does you'd have to figure …

If you see the notification about broken links it means that the very previous action had already broken it. That would have been copying the citations. We haven't tested working with different google docs accounts at the same time, but I suspect th…

Could you describe in full what you're doing and what happens? What version of Word are you running?
-
@sophiarussack After thinking about this some more it could have also been triggered by editing the Word document while Zotero was working on it, or while the Zotero citation dialog was open.

See https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#installation_error

This means that another user edited your document with an incompatible Word processor (e.g. Google Docs). If you use Zotero with Word and another user opens edits the document with an incompatible word processor all citations will become unlinked. Y…

Reinserting all citations in the document would solve the problem. Your best bet is to say "Yes" to the dialogs about changed citations for the whole document, then go over each citations one-by-one and redo them. You should take intermittent backup…

Did you try switching from 32-bit to 64-bit Office?
-
Are you saying that you cannot get the Zotero window to appear over Chrome (or other programs)? If so then there's some misconfiguration at the operating system level. Are you using any software that allows you to "pin" certain windows and always di…

If you're seeing the messages it means the document is already corrupt. The first time you start seeing these messages after the document refreshes fine means that the last operation you performed on it caused a corruption. We would need to figure o…

Could you create a OneDrive file with spaces in the filename and produce a Debug ID from Zotero for an attempt to insert a citation?
