Oops, I see now that the pdf I use for testing was open in pdf-reader. That blocks the name change without warning. Sorry, mistake -> Call Number is added! The comma to space is strange: It works with > 2 authors, but not with

Thanks a lot! A real improvement. Strangely enough, in the preview (in settings), the Call Number is shown. But on the actual file change, it does not add the Call Number. Any idea why? I'm not very fond on special characters in file names. Is it p…

@mark.diamond: very nice thank you! I know nothing of Java, but would it be possible to only add the filename without the path? Or without (in my case) d:\zotero\storage? And would it be possible to make this renaming behavior automatic: Title alway…

+1 here. That would make a lot of sense imho. Strange though that on export, pdf's timestamps change, but docx timestamps remain.

No. It turns out I cannot. Tried several options, e.g. with or without Zotero plugin in Word. In the document I encountered several messages: https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u2362511/a9a2o3a7ibiacl9ftiwq.png https://s3.amazonaws.co…

Ok, thank you. I do not have to search any further. I'll find a way with some Word somewhere. A converter would be a nice option though.

will there be any progress on this in the near future?

Same issue here. Plus it happens if I switch from laptop screen to external and back (always in fullscreen mode). Screens do not have the same aspect ratio/resolution: 2048x1152 and 1920x1200

1- ok great. Seems fancy to me, but indeed a nice feature. A small question: I do have a lot of old stuff. Meaning: scan's which I OCR'ed. I always keep the original next to the OCR (especially Adobe can seriously mess up a OCR'd pdf). The OCR versi…

Thank you. What is merging 2 pdf's? I would expect the result to be a double sized pdf, or something very complicated (e.g. how the merge 2 completely different pdf's from two items?). You suggest merging is deleting one (or more) and keeping the ot…

@dstillman: isn't it strange that this happened just after upgrading to Zotero 6? And also the Zotero.dotm has a datestamp of 2022-03-22. Is it for sure a Word/security issue or might it be related to the updates?
-
I know, but the workaround is to misuse the opening of dotm (which once in a while works without the dotm-opening-error, so Zotero.dotm is alive and kicking): then copying Word/document content to that file, and than saving that file to another name…

If that's the case I probably have a serious problem. I'm not so sure our IT is willing to fix this... They are in a security-frenzy workaround: I was able to copy the content of a document including Zotero-refs to that one file that opened the dotm…

but then opening existing docx or new docx: no error, but also no Zotero-tab ;( . So only the file which is created opening the dotm has active Zotero

OS 10.0.19041 word: Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2203 Build 16.0.15028.20070) 32-bit opening dotm: "Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges." Same message as admin and after several blocks & closing/opening …

"same thing that @dstillman said: security software possibly blocking the plugin update. " I do not understand: in my case recent updating seems to go well, Zotero.dotm is recent. But Word seems to block it I'm on a work laptop as well, with admin r…

closing Word: same problem returned-> "Word cannot open this document template" (c:\users\...\Zotero.dotm) again Word options - Add-ins - Inactive add-ins: enabled the inactive template Zotero.dotm: again "Word cannot open this document template"…
-
Word options - Add-ins - Inactive add-ins: enabled the inactive template Zotero.dotm Closing Word, re-opening: no message, Zotero-tab available. Closing Zotero, opening Word: all ok.

turns out that File location is only grey if no document is open. So I could follow the steps in the manual. Path was ok, dotm files seem to be in the right folders

unluckily this problem returned. No ~$Zotero.dotm anywhere. - Deleted the Zotero.dotm from startup and reinstalled from Zot-prefs -> no solution From the Manual install instructions: "3 Find your Word startup folder and copy the path to the cli…

I tried dstillman's option: "This will replace all invalid values with the string 'INVALID_SCITE_VALUE', which should prevent further errors and allow you to find and correct them." then searched on INVALID_SCITE_VALUE. In 'Everything' I get an en…

fixed by manually deleting ~$Zotero.dotm

same here as timwr820: - tools/add-ons does not respond -> but fixed in update Zotero just yet (bravo!) - plus: Word claims that Zotero-plugin is outdated. After reinstall Zotero-plugin: cannot opden document template Zotero.dotm. So Word integra…

> So, how simple would it be to make Call Number available for all item types? +1. That would be very helpful for (nearly) the same reasons jvoros gave. Same here, I use Call Number for all items with attachments (>90%), incl. display in a c…

Same here: a lot of false duplicates in the Duplicate items section. Would be great to be able to mark them as such.

ok. and thanks for the workaround (..load the PDF yourself first might also help..)

thank you. Retrying without relaoding always gives an immediate red cross. Closing tab & reload is what I typically do to avoid that. Sometimes with success. Interestingly, hitting the manual pdf-download (and interrupting) seems to help. Next …

just tried again with same file: red cross, failed to download, but no message about Zotero running or not. Just red cross + "sciencedirectfull text pdf". And within a few seconds, not 15 secs. Only a connector debug ID this time: D1939438536 and D…
