For future reference, there are two ways to prevent this from happening, not mutually exclusive: 1. Use Fields and make sure to check the "Save references in document" box. That way, when citing, a box will come up with papers already cited. If you…

Props for using Zotero for your exam paper by the way! I hope you'll be fine. Ultimately you're still probably saving time relative to folks who don't use it and do it all by hand.

This is an old and thorny issue which as far as I know has seen little development over the years: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/14572/a-ui-proposal-for-a-better-date-field/p1

Another helpful plugin is Zotfile. I have set it to look for new PDF downloads in a given folder. It'll show a popup when a new PDF is detected in that folder, and one click allows you to attach the most recently detected PDF to the currently select…

Was syncing for a while... Now fixed! No error anymore and my local copy of the group is finally gone. Thank you!
-
Problem persists (new report ID 1454010236). Would appreciate help! It doesn't look like this is going away anytime soon — sync on one end now always ends in "A file sync error occurred", with reference to the problematic group library.
-
It's version 4.0.29.10, same on both sides. The problem group that persists on one site is mentioned in the report IDs mentioned above. Its name is "Cursos MLI CIESAS". Newly generated report ID: 553947656.

The problem-generating group is one I did not create, which I left 1 week ago, and which has not disappeared since (though it is no longer listed in the online Groups interface). The error message simply is "File sync error". The error log seems to …

Yeah, that's the information ref extractor uses as far as I know; mayby @Rintze knows what's going on? And indeed, more people should know that to sync is to backup...
-
Try Reference Extractor: http://rintze.zelle.me/ref-extractor/

Excellent, hope it can be done soon. Since DOIs are a preferred way to cite, identify and locate scholarly work, throwing them away at import really is a cardinal sin for a reference manager!
-
Okay, since doi.org does resolve the doi I suppose the problem will cease to exist at some point. Good enough for me — no hurry at all.
-
More useful than a screenshot would be a description of all the steps needed to reproduce the problem. I.e. start in new document (or a copy of the affected document), go through the steps of adding new in-text citations, and report when the problem…

1. Did you try the Zotero > Refresh button 2. Can you insert the updated reference anew and report what happens? 3. If using group libraries, check whether you're citing from the library you've made the changes in

This is not what you're asking for, but here is a workaround you might consider. Rather than an elaborate setup toggling or switching between collections and windows, just add stuff to your library and categorize or put it in collections later. For…

Good idea. Added a slide to that effect.

What is number 91 in the bibliography, and where is the reference to it in the document?
-
Neat! Worked for me with a test document, will recommend it to folks who have asked me about a feature like this.

Please use "Search" to find more information about this. Relevant threads: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/55859/is-there-a-plugins-for-pages https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/45765/integration-plugin-for-apples-pages

Yes, and "won't be able to downgrade" was what prompted my question. If I can't downgrade, I want to make sure I only upgrade when all tools in my workflow are ready for it. Quick skim of thread didn't answer that q.

Just want to bump this another time because I'm really curious to hear more. I'd love it if aggregated data from a widely used open source, not-for-profit project like Zotero could make a tangible contribution to altmetrics, especially if it benefit…

Cool, thanks!

Cool, thanks!

Just ran into this again. Should be a relatively easy fix, no?
-
Alternatively, how do I generate (or where can I find) the JSON-ified version of a dissertation reference so that I can play around in the visual editor myself?
-
Any movement on this?
-
Ha! I've run into this over the last months but always forgot to file the bug. Glad others saw it, too.
-
Any news on this? Like wouterhendrickx above, I would love to see Zotero represented in altmetrics. (I've seen this: https://www.zotero.org/blog/studying-the-altmetrics-of-zotero-data/ — but haven't seen anything since either here or on the altmetri…

Is my interim proposal above possible at all, or is 4.2 sufficiently close by to make it not worth the time to implement?

Excellent, thank you Dan!
