AHHHHHH. OK - thanks, that's very helpful. I'll remember to empty trash!
-
@dstillman - I've got an issue, where when I copy items, the attached files do not copy (despite being downloaded). There are some warnings about notes being too long as well, so I'll need to track those down, but that seems to be a different librar…
-
Ah - that's great - very good. However, ... at least on Linux, the drag and drop of items isn't always reliable... I don't know why that would affect Linux only, don't know. But I've definitely experienced dragging things across libraries, without …

Building/sedgeway on @hughp3, I would propose the following: Add a new 'type' called 'generic'. The item panel would look like: Item type: [Custom] Format citation as: [Journal Paper] (Drop down, including the usual types.) Custom item type: Tweet …

Hi @sdspieg, did you get anywhere with this? We're looking at citation trees (ping @dlesieur), which means that we have to periodically merge (as Zotero doesn't have a function to check on import). We've also implemented a non-descriptive merge, w…

Hi @MarCat and @adamsmith. For https://docs.edtechhub.org (kerko), we're using a 'group with smaller membership', which is fed from a 'group with larger membership'. To do this in one library, it would be even better to have per-collection restric…

D173595364 This shows the group synching, though I didn't catch it from the start... Does that help, or do you need it from the start of the sync? The sync started on 'it's own accord'. Thanks!
-
Hi @danstillman - actually, it does seem that the collection did sync after all. What debug log would you like me to send? When I notice the sync, I'll just turn on debug, and send that?
-
It was definitely continuing to sync after I had pressed 'stop' and restarted. But maybe I didn't do a full restart (on linux it seems that Zotero sometimes doesn't fully quit when you quit the UI). Now that I've restarted, the library doesn't sync …
-
We've fixed this now. The user had imported long abstracts via RIS, which prevented the library from sync'ing. In an ideal world, there would be some warnings in the UI (other than at sync) that one or other record is going to break sync.

Botht he Zotero window and the popup.

Thanks - I've commented!

Also this: https://github.com/edtechhub/zotero-cli.

Coming to think of it, I wouldn't mind a session on the Elektron transition or perhaps to Zotero roadmap in general? @danstillman - would you be up for this or would you want to nominate somebody?
-
"Subversive pleasures: the monkey patch" :) Thanks for input - let me loop back with the Zotero users on our side. I might just pick a date and then advertise it - give me a few days to get this sorted. In the meantime, feel free to add other idea…

@parkjinn and @mdover - would there be interest in a kerko webinar or similar? @dlesiur has been building https://docs.edtechhub.org for us, and we'd love to share some of the stories etc. (As part of a possible https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/…

Thanks for the message @emilianoheyns! It might also not be about doing presentations - it could be a bunch of webchats around certain themes... doesn't have to be modelled on academic-style conferences.
-
Thank you - that's helpful!
-
Thank you @bwiernik @dstillman and @DWL-SDCA ! I did say that I should probably know the answer to this one - thanks for link to documentation! :)
-
RRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIGGGHHHHTTTTTT!!!!!! Yes - thank you, that makes total sense!! And am I right about (1) vs. (2) ? Zotero sees those as different authors? 1. John Smith 2. Smith, John ?
-
Ok - it must be a bug for (2)/(3). When I export references individually, the first name is abbreviated. When I export several references, it's not!
-
Hmm.... so for the 2nd author, the abbreviation is working for (2)/(3) ... but not for the first author.
-
Sure - yes. We'll try to pull out the bit that gets the Zotero citations from the local Zotero library (I assume that's how it works) and integrate it into our workflow!
-
Thank you @adomasven for the endorsement, but it really isn't straight forward to work out what's what. So much of what I know was hard earned through trial and error :) I am reluctant to clone the plugin. I hear you about the user interface - but …
-
@qqbb - I would say that in a way, the https://github.com/edtechhub/zotero-edtechhub does this, albeit in an inelegant, lo-fi way: The previous data remains available in a note. The data could be copied from the note onto clipboard, and then 'item …

I'll watch out for this - I couldn't guarantee that the permissions weren't changed. So the most likely explanation is that this is the reason! Many thanks for clearing this up!

As indicated above, this would be an excellent feature. Just to add regarding the 'undo'. The some issue exists when merging two items: Once you've merged, the metadata of the other item is gone - so if you made a mistake, that's it. This plugin h…
