What does the data look like ?
-
The publisher does not appear to be at all consistent with that rule to place & before the last shown author of et al is used. I think you could safely ignore it. It looks to be more likely an error in the paper you linked to than an actual rule…

@starsareintherose if you are writing in markdown or latex with Zotero, you want to install the BetterBibTeX plugin. That ensures stable citekeys and allows you to set specific citekeys for items as you please.
-
Grammatically it’s a little weird too. “Arun & Astone et al” would mean “Arun and Astone and others”. That would be odd versus writing it as “Arun, Astone, and others”
-
See here on the page you linked to—APA references are usually in the parentheses, narrative citations like that are an exception https://guides.library.uq.edu.au/referencing/apa6/in-text-references#s-lg-box-16400116

CSL 1.1 implements this, so it is likely to become possible in the next few years
-
That’s not necessary. Just enter the item’s citekey in the note. Pandoc will take care of formatting that into the citation style.
-
Just post back in this thread or a new one. I check in these forums several times a day and also maintain the Zotero APA style.
-
Yes. That would be the change. If you are working to recreate the styles, I would suggest starting from APA7 like you are doing.
-
More broadly, what are the customizations you are applying to APA style?
-
There is not currently a workflow that can accommodate live citations from Zotero notes to markdown. You could manually insert pandoc citations by copying the citation key from the item pane and pasting it into the note. (If you aren’t already using…

Let’s take a step back. What exactly are you trying to do? What is your exact expected workflow?
-
Note that it is a sort of stand-in style. If you insert the note into a word document, citations will format according to the document citation style.
-
Not currently

You can also right click on the link and choose save file as to download it, then import to Zotero.
-
Why not invert your whole system colors?
-
The last discussion on the CSL front ended with agreement that styles should include a node in info for reference managers to read indicating which abbreviation list to use, but otherwise leave supplying the list to reference managers
-
You have many citations in your document. This will slow Zotero down—you need to be patient and let it finish. It hasn’t crashed, even after it says it is “not responding”. You can disable automatic updates from the Document Preferences window to sp…

Install the Zotero beta. It adds an “insert note” button to the Zotero Word tab.
-
This is controlled by the citation style. Do you have a link to the journal’s style guidelines and/or an open access article in the journal?
-
There is a full featured iPad app currently being beta tested. You should sign up for the beta test and use that app https://www.zotero.org/iosbeta

We will look into the LTR parentheses issue

(Last response was me.)

But, if you have questions, anyone who has responded to you in this thread are the world’s experts on CSL and citations with Zotero, so we are happy to answer questions
-
That’s a task a lot of folks have an undergraduate RA work on. That might be your best option. If you have questions about how information should be stored in Zotero or what fields to be sure to check, we can answer those.
-
The default APA style that ships with Zotero was changed to APA 7 in January 2020
-
You should save webpages as HTML files using Zotero’s snapshot feature. That is the page’s native format and the one that will preserve correct formatting. PDF is a legacy format for print publications—it doesn’t make sense to convert a web page to …

Can you give an example?

No, libraries are separate from each other. If you are intending to have PDFs in My Library, you may as well buy storage for your account—group libraries share the owner’s storage quota. It costs nothing more to have a group library with storage t…
