Chicago specifies three citation formats for its full note style: First: Full reference Subsequent, immediately following the same citation (where ibid used to be used): Just author Subsequent, with other citations in between: Author, title That’s …

For et al, I find myself commonly typing Author et al 2010 while searching; also appears when I copy-paste citations from elsewhere into the Zotero Word plugin search. For DOI, this would match features with other tools (e.g., PaperPile, RStudio),…

Generally, use Zotero type “Document” for this—it maps to the CSL type used for preprints (‘article’). What citation style are you using?
-
No, it's not currently possible to change what is displayed for dates. Such an option is planned. As you note, the dates are internally stored in YYYY-MM-DD format, which is used for sorting and formatting citations.
-
@muntashir What exactly are you looking for? "Harvard" just means author-date citations. If you want a fullnote style, I suggest Chicago (fullnote).
-
@John%20Percival I noticed an inconsistency in the SBL rules for abbreviating number ranges. They refer to the 16th edition of the Chicago manual rules, but their examples follow the 15th edition rules. The difference between these is what to do wi…

You would need to edit the style. Which version of Chicago style are you using?
-
Which Chicago style specifically?

You would need to edit the citation style (and this would apply to all authors). What style are you using?
-
Can you export an item that is being rendered wrong to CSL-JSON, upload it to Dropbox or gist.github.com or similar, and link here?
-
You can select a single item in the Duplicates view by holding down the Alt/Option key. If you want to inspect an item after it’s been merged, go to your main library view and sort by the Date Modified column.

Here is a numeric version of APA style: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bwiernik/zotero-tools/master/apa-numeric.csl I am not a lawyer, but my understanding is there is nothing copyrightable about formatting your citations in a certain way. What …

Google Scholar does not have abstracts in its metadata, so you won’t ever get them when importing from google scholar (and the metadata are often poor in other ways too, so I don’t recommend exporting from Google Scholar as a general rule).
-
Yes, you can add “Original title:”, “Original author:”, “Original date:”, “Original publisher:” and “Original publisher place:” to Extra. These can in included in citation styles. You can also add “References:” to give more extensive or special publ…

@bjohas You might look at https://improvingpsych.org conference for an example of a structure that might work.
-
@damnation No, that’s not right. DGP/APA do not substitute collection-editor. @borderstep02 I don’t know why you want to label “BMU” as an editor here, rather than an author. That would be highly unusual. BMU here would be cited as an institutiona…

These are abbreviations in Ethiopian names. “G/“ is “Gebre” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gebre “H/“ I believe is “Haile” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haile
-
Can you explain that last comment? If you have entered “BMU” as the author (be sure it is listed as the author and not “contributor”), it will certainly show up in the author position.
-
@hughp3 if you are doing legal citations, I definitely recommend you look into Jurism’s modular legal citation system. It will give much better results than regular CSL will.
-
Thanks that’s helpful. The first example makes sense. Supporting this type of citation would require some more sophisticated handling—if language data are entered in ISO codes, then the processor would need to be able to insert the actual language…

This feature is being worked on for a future version. For now, the fastest way is to copy the DOI to the Add by Identifier (magic wand) tool to make a new item, then merge the two items.
-
@hughp3 Full multilingual versions of all fields like that is outside the scope of CSL 1.0.2 and likely CSL 1.1. I suggest you check out Jurism, a version of Zotero with much expanded multilingual field support designed to produce those types of cit…

“Presentation” is for presentations at conferences and similar things. “Conference paper” is for papers formally published in a conference proceedings book or journal.

(Feel free to write in French if you prefer.)

Italics should mostly be a font issue—most typefaces should render italic and regular Chinese characters the same. Beyond that, separate formatting for different item languages would require the multilingual features in Jurism, a spin-off version …

De-select the field (don’t be typing in it) before you right click on it
-
Currently, the best field for this is “Series”. A “volume/issue title” field will likely be added in a future version.
-
See here for how to enter all of the items in the APA manual https://www.zotero.org/groups/2205533/test_items_library/collections/MR2N872S/item-list

Add it in the First name field [@username]

Can you give an example of that being used?
