This is terrific. Thanks very much for your efforts. I was going to suggest a different label, but then saw it was customizable in the Prefs. Thanks!

Ah! I had created sub-collections and dragged items into them, expecting them to then only be in those sub-collections rather than also the parent. Thanks!

What would be ideal from my perspective would be a flag system very similar to what Outlook has. So, we could flag papers or attachments to be read/used/processed and then check them off when they are read/used/processed. Having this as a column wou…

@Franz2021 I haven't had this problem, but now that you describe it, I can see great value in being able to have a hidden comment field in a citation. This could be valuable both for going back to it later, and especially in collaboration so that a …

Thanks very much. I can delete the "Type:Article" from the Extra fields.
-
Thanks very much. I just searched for the papers that have Type:Article in Extra, and they don't have anything in the Library Catalog or URL fields. I didn't download these as they are in a shared Group Library and were downloaded by a team member…

Thanks for the quick reply. After you replied, I investigated a bit more, and the problematic behavior only occurs when there is: Type:Article in the Extra field. This seems to be relatively rare, and I can't figure out when it happens. I'm workin…

I think the easiest way to do that is to insert the Note into Word or LO, and then insert a Bibliography (all using the Word/LO Zotero menus).

Congratulations and thank you for the incredible tool!

This is great news! I had been holding back recommending the beta to my collaborators, but will now share the joy!
-
I'm doing the same thing - using one color for bookmarks and the other colors for highlights. It's definitely a kludge, though.
-
Thanks so much for the detailed instructions. I had seen the slightly more abbreviated instructions and was feeling anxious after also seeing the troubles that jongiff experience. I've followed your instructions and it works perfectly. This is a gr…

@pworthin This looks like it would be very useful, but the Dropbox link to the style doesn't work for me. Where did you download it? Thanks very much.

Thanks very much!

Sorry about that! Item type: Journal article. Current output: George, G., J. Howard-Grenville, A. Joshi, and L. Tihanyi 2016 “Understanding and tackling societal grand challenges through management research.” Academy of Management Journal, 59: 1…

Thanks very much. Here is the link: https://journals.sagepub.com/author-instructions/ASQ I just sent you an invitation to a Group Library that contains a recent ASQ paper (and nothing else).

Sorry to bump this. I'm not sure if this is a beta problem, but my collections definitely do not work the way you are describing, with open/close being a persistent state. I am regularly closing collections and then come back later and they are open…
-
Thanks very much for the fast response. The persistence only works for me within a single instance of using Zotero. If I shut down and restart Zotero, that state is no longer persistent. When I reopen Zotero, many (but not all) of the collection…

I would find a collection search to be very helpful. Having used Zotero for years, I now have a large number of collections which can make finding a set of papers saved together difficult to find at times.
-
This would be an immensely valuable addition to Zotero, in part because the epub reader market is a bit of a mess in terms of academic use. There are a variety of readers, but they are variously inelegant, inefficient, don't allow annotations, and/o…

@ryanwnoyes Thanks very much for the explanation! It makes me think about using OneNote in a similar way (for different reasons).
-
@ryanwnoyes Out of interest, can you say how you use this functionality? Thanks!

Just to follow up on this briefly based on my experience with using the beta. I now find in order to get around not being able to edit bookmarks/TOC, I end up using a specific highlighter color to provide an equivalent way of getting around the docu…
-
Thanks - that's a really good point about deleting/rotating pages messing up annotations. I guess, then, I'd make one more plea for editing bookmark/TOC.
-
The new PDF reader really is a massive gift in productivity. In relation to the bookmarking/TOC editing, I can understand that this may be out of scope for Zotero. What would be helpful then would be a more direct way of opening PDFs with the syste…
-
@auster - Inserting a note into Word using the Zotero add-in within Word (as opposed to copy and paste) does retain citations, so you can generate a bibliography (just did that)
-
Thanks very much! 1. That's great about the background colors/highlighting 2. It's a shame about the multi-level/multi-part numbering, but what I just realized is that when notes are added to a Word document, Word is able to convert the nested str…

@martynas_b In response to your question about @seeingtheforest comment #7: Editing bookmarks/TOC is something I do a lot with PDFs. Many PDFs, both books and articles, come without any bookmarks to guide navigation. If I am going to be using a P…

Not sure if this is a request or a question: is there a shortcut key to move back and forth between the PDF pane and the notes pane? This would be very useful while taking notes on a PDF, and would be much faster than reaching to the mouse each time…
