Yes. It would be very nice to be able to view more title words. This would be especially helpful for articles in a series (Using citation management software: problems caused by authors of research, Part I: Titles that begin with boilerplate). About…

English language titles should be entered in "sentence case" that is, the first letter of the first word and the first letter of proper nouns in upper case. You can quickly convert title case to sentence case by right clicking in the title field (af…

I know that everyone has their own way of doing things and organizing their files. However, I am _very_ curious about why you are using the all-my-files view in Finder. I see only a useless jumble of files -- literally all the files on my disk -- wi…

I've found success with this Amazon problem by reloading the page. I think that sometimes the Amazon pages seem to fully load but haven't really completed.

I have considerable experience with Emerald and I've found that their author names for journal articles are consistently incorrectly formatted if the author's full first name is presented. I believe that with Emerald books the author names are incon…

I use a keyboard macro to automate the entry of things (short words and longer phrases) that I frequently type. Some operating systems have this as a built-in feature. I use an inexpensive commercial program for this on my Mac. This program isn't sp…

To quickly get help you will need to provide a more complete description of what isn't performing the way you think it should. Please read about reporting problems here: https://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_problems Please do not shout with a…

Recognizing full-word language descriptions would be basically impossible... Not really. A parser would need the standard ISO language name (this happens to be in English); the name used by those who use the language (not straightforward because so…

Here I go again. While I know that styles can take care of this issue; I'd be really pleased if this could be done upon import. I use a center display that includes the language field. I find it disconcerting to have entries that are different lengt…

You didn't say the citation style you are using; but the last name + initials is acceptable if not preferred for most author date styles even with different publication years. Can you explain why you believe this is a problem.

FWIW I use a Mac. I used an earlier beta of 5.0 to import a list of ISBNs that was about 25 items. I copied a list of ISBNs that I had in BBEdit, pasted the list into the Wand tool, and hit return. I had no problems with the import. Each Zotero reco…

A new Zotero client for Android is under development. See: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/67409/zotdroid-a-zotero-client-for-android#latest

This doesn't fully answer your question but it does suggest a more appropriate way to enter sender and recipient: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/adding_a_letter_or_memo It also makes a recommendation to use the "type" field (enter "letter" ther…

Bump: Here are several URLs from my Google Scholar notification service. I visit the page and then must refresh the page before the Zotero connector recognizes the metadata. This occurs when using Firefox or using Chrome. Note, however that the sam…

In the meantime, please talk with a sympathetic reference librarian and explain the problem. Show her/him an example of the RIS file. Ask if it is possible for the library to file a formal request or complaint with Ovid. There are other services tha…

@bwiernik raises the key issue here. Sometimes a doi links to the abstract sometimes to the login. I've been able to get to the article abstract by repeatedly using the doi until I don't get the login. I have complained. I encourage everyone who rea…

This isn't so much an issue with Zotero as it is with Ovid's practice of providing metadata in non-standard formats. If Ovid provided metadata in a consistently non-standard format, then Zotero translators could allow for that and make improvements.…

Notice the ArticleTitle close tag at about line 25. There is no opening tag. Sometimes there will be ArticleTitle opening and closing tags with no title contained. For example, a French language article: 28805501 …

Ali: Please understand that we cannot see your computer screen so you will need to take the time to describe the details of what you see -- "strange format' isn't a sufficient description. It is likely, from your brief description of your problem, t…

Please take this as friendly advice I'm not intending to be harsh. It is essential in the 21st century for graduate-level students to be at least minimally computer savvy. Your university's computer help desk people can likely suggest workshops that…

Zotero is free software and doesn't offer telephone support. You might be able to get hands-on support from someone at your university library. No one suggested that you should try to view the files with another program. That could do damage to th…

Vernacular title: The short answer is, not yet. This became a problem 6 to 8 weeks ago with several nonEnglish PubMed journals. The English language title and/or abstract is either omitted or is included but placed within the wrong tags. If I could…

The Compendix problem of missing the abstract has existed for a long time. The abstract isn't included in the RIS nor the embedded metadata.

We will look into this immediately. I'll reply soon with more information. If the problem is, as you suggest, on my end I'll edit the subject line of this thread to make it clear that this isn't a Zotero issue at all and that, indeed, Zotero helped…

I agree that something similar would be very good. The journal article icon is particularly "hidden" among the other things up there. Edit: I had to move the Zotero icon to position it next to the URL field so that I could find it quickly.

@adamsmith Unless I am on campus (working from home through the proxy doesn't work) I need to copy and paste the DOI.

Zotero developers and volunteers are actively working to resolve the problems (as stated in other threads on this forum). As pointed out on other threads, theProQuest issue can be resolved by going to the details page. The cause of this was a major…

The last time I checked, the Zotero unlimited storage fee was considerably less than an iCloud account large enough for my files.

@jrgetsin When things go wrong it can be frustrating. "But grow up!" Exclamations such as that will not help you obtain assistance more quickly. Several of the most active supporters on this forum are volunteers. This forum works well because it enc…
