That is good information, I agree; but the listings I have are from the early 19th century.

anystyle.io was what I couldn't remember. Thanks to each of you. The AnyStyle parser does a much accurate job than I recall the capabilities of WizFolio. A considerable amount of training and editing is needed but even so, this is better than hand e…

@StefanBoe Please, be sure that you have your Zotero library (and other documents and software) backed up on a regular schedule to an external drive. The value of syncing to the Zotero server is that you have an additional safety net so that when yo…

@cynthiareichling In other words, LibreOffice is now what OpenOffice dreamed of becoming. Many of the OpenOffice developers left that project and began expanding the original software to become more user friendly, more compatible with newer operatin…

This is a known and vexing problem. See: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/305943#Comment_305943 and other threads: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/71113/error-in-author-names-when-using-zotero-connector#latest Until this is fixed …

Zotero is not inserting a line break but is wrapping the URL st an acceptable place in the string. Does your prof want you to force a line break before the URL so that it starts on a new line? That shouldn't be necessary and violates the true Turabi…

For the record, my comments are intended to help with _preventing_ the OP from encountering the problem in the future. It also makes a recommendation that might prevent this common problem from affecting any user. I had no intention to commandeer th…

When a student (or a colleague) sends me a draft of their report for review I refuse to accept it if field codes are intact. The round-trip damaged document problem encountered by @dainaesposito is common. Apart from the risk of damage to the docume…

More and more journals are numbering supplements' pages with an initial non-number character-sometimes more than one letter. BMJ Group sometimes publishes online supplements with page numbers that start with the letter "e". This practice is much mor…

Until this is fixed I recommend: 1) use the doi translator; 2) add the hyphen to the ISSN; and 3) copy/paste the abstract from the webpage into Zotero. After a few times you will learn to accomplish these tasks quite quickly.

The bibliographic style you are using does this preference automatically. If you want last names you should select a different style for your document. Were you assigned to use a specific bibliographic style for your report? If so, and you set Zoter…

FWIW I cope with these articles by copying the doi, using the Zotero wand, and after importing the metadata; I copy the abstract and paste it into Zotero.

Did you install the Safari connector (available on the Zotero download page)? edit- I am a Mac user but for using Zotero and capturing items from publishers or databases I prefer to use Firefox.

Emerald has significant problems reporting author name data with their doi submissions. I find that sometimes they get lastname, firstname correctly. However all too often the last name and first name will be in a single field and could be in any or…

Someone who uses a more recent version of MS word will need to give you spefic instructions but I can provide a hint. The font settings in the footnote (or bibliography) section aren't controled by Zotero but by Word. Go to the Word format menu and…

When I find myself with an editorial that only has an author listed as "Editor", I do one of 2 things in the Zotero record: 1) Use a single-field and enter: Editor-journal name; or 2) Add the word "editorial" within parens to the title of the articl…

Were you still using Zotero 4 or had you updated to Zotero 5? Is there a folder on your desktop with the title Old Firefox?

Here is a ScienceDirect link that gives problems on Safari but not on Firefox or Chrome. It is to an open access paper and automatically downloads the pdf in the browser (even with Zotero closed). Thus, this ScienceDirect page has weirdness independ…

I just looked at a few examples of journal style guides and examples of printed articles. I also looked at manuscripts that were sent to me for review. All have the citation numbers outside the punctuation. @adamsmith shouldn't all cite numbers b…

Zotero has several Vancouver styles. Visit https://www.zotero.org/styles and search for Vancouver. You will see the options with examples. edit Oops. Someone will need to tell you more. The in-text examples don't indicate punctuation/cite placement…

@adomasven I've a report that may be completely irrelevant but here it is. I have a colleague who recently encountered a similar problem with a different (commercial) reference management software package. Investigation found that his computer was…

@getridodoi Although I find myself wondering if you are serious or simply writing outrageous things to troll; I will treat your comments as real. DOIs do cost publishers but the cost is reasonable when you consider the computing infrastructure invo…

I can confirm that this problem is fixed in the most recent beta. Thank you!

Same thing is happening with Wiley articles: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/smi.2615/full Here the keywords are also in the header and in the RIS. If I import the RIS the keywords become tags.

My Zotero version: 5.0.36-beta.7+ea569b8b1 On a Mac using Firefox 58.0.2. Automatically tag items with keywords and subject headings tick-box is checked. I'll test other websites for databases and other publishers and post again on Saturday. Tha…

There is an existing Vancouver style with square brackets. You can install and use that. See info about the style repository: see: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/70660/vancouver-style-change-from-to-for-citations#latest https://www.zotero.…

One of my students says that the new ScienceDirect design broke this even for Mandeley users like her. Mandeley is owned by Elsevier (as is ScienceDirect).
