In two-field mode, Jr. should come after the first name like this: Lastname Firstname, Jr.

Although somewhat peripheral to this thread is the problem some publishers have with exporting metadata with fields that contain a non-breaking space. See, for example: https://www.ajemjournal.com/article/S0735-6757(18)30717-4/fulltext

FWIW at my university Chicago style has always been called "standard humanities style" by anthropologists and sociologists. When I first encountered this I was more than puzzled until one prof pointed to the CMS book on my bookshelf. At first, she g…

I have been a member of the organization for years and I've pointed out several specific errors in the way that the website constructs their headers. A couple of things were corrected only to have new ones arise. There is a considerable irony here i…

What version of Word? Zotero? What operating system? "Doesn't work" Please further explain. Do you see the Zotero toolbar? See it but buttons do not work when clicked? Etc.

It is one thing for a commercial (and costly) program developer to force its users to upgrade to a new paid version every year or two however Zotero is free. The 5.0x versions fix many problems and minor annoyances that existed in the 4th version. …

As @bwiernik said, Zotero is a desktop computer (or notebook computer) program that works in Linux, Mac, or Windows and is independent of your Chrome browser. It appears that you have only installed the Chrome connector (an add-on to chrome and Zote…

Have you saved incremental backups of your word proessor document? Best practice is to frequently "save as" multiple versions of your manuscript. MyDocument1, MyDocument2, MyDocument3, etc. It sounds like you may have removed the Zotero field code…

You must set up Zotero so that everything except your PDFs, etc is on your own computer's hard drive and so that your Zotero database is synced to your Zotero account. Please read the following documentation items and, if necessary, ask specific q…

I cannot help you directly. However for someone who can help you will need to provide more information. You can try by asking in your own language. People here can read and write in many languages. What is the Zotero style you are using? Please p…

I have access to full text pdf both on-campus and off when through remote access. None of these access methods provide the authors. With or without the proxy from off campus. There seems to be nothing in the page headers that provides much of the ar…

My experience may (or may not) be relevant to this discussion. If Zotero group users begin linking to full text files of material under copyright I expect publishers to become alarmed and to take some sort of action. In the past I gathered metada…

I can confirm that this sort of thing happens with all ScienceDirect journal articles. The error/alert isn't regularly happening for me but I cannot get the authors. At the same time the language field is now imported where I didn't get this before.…

Does the wand work if you enter the isbn (9780190633776)? I haven't tried lately but I don't remember magic wand working with DOIs for books.

Thanks. Except for the names problem, they provide rather good metadata. (Except nowhere is the journal volume available except from the actual article pdf.)

In general, I think.

I suspect that the direct message message function may be disabled. I've tried to reach you and I've been informed that people have tried to reach me.

A couple of years ago when I was thing of features to be added to Zotero I, too, considered a bounty system to support their implementation. I soon realized that any new features that are included in the program code would need to be updated each ti…

FWIW if the version available on arxiv or ssrn isn't a reprint of the final published version, my preference is to list the archive number and not pagination.

I am experiencing both of the RSS problems @anneleis mentioned but these issues also exist when viewing the feeds using software other than Zotero. I suspect that these are problems arising from the publishers.

OSF=Open Science Framework? Open Semantic Framework? Something else?

@djross3 The respondents to your post are simply saying that you should "hold your horses" for a day or two. Frank Bennett (who desidned the CSL processor that allows Zotero styles to do their magic) is a regular reader of this forum. He is responsi…

Although Zotero often supports older versions of browsers, that Safari version is at least three years old. The current Safari version works with Zotero but the next version is specifically designed to make external interactions (likethe Zotero conn…

FWIW I have looked at this very closely and while there are language and nationality rules and conventions about name particles, many publishers and authors pay little attention to the rules and conventions. For those who are submitting a paper fo…

It seems that some site translators do the case change automatically. I agree that it would be nice to have a way to automate this for sites without such translators. I recognize that (with name particles and such) this isn't straightforward. Some t…

Here is what I do for cites that I know I will need to edit as the final step before submitting. I add a "word" at the end of the item's title. I use "QQQQ". As the final cleanup step I search for that string and make the needed edits to the referen…

The correct date is now imported with Wiley metadata. My thanks to the Zotero staff and volunteers who made this possible.

The short answer is no but Zotero is essential for getting records into the database. My contact information in available on the website. Write to me and I will explain.

I feel that I must say something even if it will be unpopular. Even though Chicago style discourages access dates (and access dates really annoy Sebastian, many others, and me) many, many schools or individual professors require them. This requireme…

Question re: "Be aware that their guidelines are slightly incorrect. You'll need to go by actual publications." My experience is limited to only a few publishers but with these the author guidelines for manuscripts is intentionally different from t…
