Auto-tag new items
Each time I have a new item I like to tag it. I probably have about 500 tags to choose from. This takes time.
It would seem an easy matter for Zotero to glance through the pdf and see if there are any of my existing tags in it. I'd still have to go through and add the 'concept' tags but it would save me a lot of time.
Please?

Upgrade Storage
But being able to have my own tags added automatically - that would be good.
This is useful for an article, especially a long one. With books I look through the contents (sub-headings are useful) and then for longer entries in the index.

As soon as I add the first tag the item vanishes.
With a default tag, I could use that for search and it would stay in the search result until I remove that tag to indicate the item is processed.
When I finish tagging an item I add a tag ___TAGGED which appears on the list as a purple square so I know I've tagged it, and of course it no longer appears in the Saved Search list. The 181202 is the date I set it up.

While it doesn’t automatically add tags per se, it uses AI to suggest tags based on a paper’s title and abstract. It also takes your most frequent library tags into account so the suggestions better match your existing tagging style. You can then simply click to apply the ones you want.
It also supports multi-word tag autocomplete for manually adding tags. Unlike Zotero’s default first-word matching, you can type the beginning of any word in a tag (e.g. “gas”, “diff”, or “GDE”) and still match “gas diffusion electrode (GDE)”.
Hope it makes staying organized a bit easier!
I shall certainly test it in a few days - at the moment, having been scammed, I'm without a credit card to set up the AI.
