• Saying that, you'd be more than welcome to join the Transifex project and help with the translation. :)

I have manually corrected and translated all the language files.

    zotero.ftl(183): recently-read = 最近読んだ項目
    preferences.ftl(98): preferences-sync-data-syncing-description = { -app-name } アカウントでログインすると、デバイス間でデータを同期したり、他のユーザーと共同作業を行ったりすることができます。
    preferences.ftl(120): .label = ログイン
    zotero.properties(183): dataDir.location データディレクトリ : %S
  • You mean locally?
Why not help the Japanese community out and make them available to all users via the TransiFex project?
  • The TransiFex Japanese project lacks an administrator.

Therefore, I cannot modify existing reviewed translations, and any translations I add will become inconsistent with existing ones.

I have raised this issue with the administrator, on this forum, and on GitHub, but have received no response.

More importantly, regarding the issue of my translations not being reflected, I believe this is a program-side problem. What are your thoughts?
Is this not a problem in other languages?
  • BTW, I reported the same problem for Norwegian in this thread:
    https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/130868/untranslated-string-data-directory#latest
The missing string is translated into Norwegian in TransiFex, but does not show up in Zotero. Perhaps some code is missing in Zotero?
  • Thank you.

It seems the problem is indeed on the program side.

Since I've determined it's not a translation file issue, I'll wait for an app update.

"Data directory:" was just an unlocalized string. That's now available as key:preferences-advanced-data-dir ("Data Directory:") in zotero.json on Transifex.

The other strings are just not translated in the Japanese locale. @coolvitto, I don't think anything would've been preventing you from editing new strings, but I've made you a reviewer. (Sorry, should've done this after your earlier posts.)

Note that you seem to have edited but then deleted a bunch of existing strings in connector.json a couple months ago. I've restored those.

    Thanks for working on these.
  • I was having trouble modifying existing, reviewed translations, rather than editing new text.

Initially, I didn't know this and translated everything until it was 100% complete.
Next, I tried to modify existing translations, but I realized that reviewed translations cannot be modified.

So, I contacted the administrator, raised the issue on this forum, and raised it on GitHub, but I haven't received a response no matter how long I wait.

Since not being able to modify existing translations would lead to inconsistencies, I deleted all of my translations.

Thank you for making me a reviewer.
However, I've now lost the initial motivation.
I will try to add translations gradually over time.
  • For now, I've revoked many of the reviews so that other translation collaborators can freely edit the text.

By the way, is it possible to revoke the previous reviewer's privileges?

If they return someday and arbitrarily mark words they've created or words that Japanese people don't even use as "reviewed," it will confuse many of our translation collaborators.

This will affect not only our translation collaborators but also many of our app users.
More than just confusion, I think it will damage the app's reputation.

    Yes, already did this.
  • Thank you.

Now I can focus on translating without any worries.
