Erratic renaming behavior Zotfile
Zotero 5.0.88
Zotfile 5.0.16
Firefox 77.0.1
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
When I use the Zotero connector to download a journal article from a publisher's website, Zotfile works as expected--it renames the file to my specified format and saves it in the specified file. However, if I create an entry, for instance from a blog or website, and then attempt to attach a file either using Add Attachment/Attach Stored Copy of File or by manually copying the file to my library and using Add Attachment/Attach Link to File, it renames the file in a different format. I also do not see the Zotfile popup when this happens, but I do see it when I download the journals. Changing the Type to Journal Article does not correct the behavior. In Zotfile Preferences, Use Zotero to Rename is NOT checked. If I select a Zotero entry and click Update in Zotfile preferences, the preview uses the correct format, but then when I actually attach it, Zotero uses the wrong one.

You could also use Zotfile's "Attach New File" function. It can grab files from a source folder, e.g., your Downloads folder, see here. This can be useful for attaching a website as a pdf file, see here.
(BTW, you can set Zotfile to work with additional file types such as HTML in "Tools" -> "ZotFile Preferences" -> "Advanced Settings" -> "Only work with the following filetypes".)
