New item type - drawing?

Hi,

would it be possible to include a new item type like "working drawing / construction drawing"? Such documents often include many of the same field that are listed for both documents and reports. However, documents are missing some vital fields, while not all fields for reports are relevant... In my opinion such an item type should include e.g.:
- drawing title
- author
- drawing number
- date
- drawing type
- scale
- place

It lacks some of the fields you mention, but there is the Artwork item type.
Like other item types, it will be improved in the future.

I would recommend you use Artwork. To get scale, type, and number, add these fields to top of the Extra field:

scale: 16:1
genre: Drawing Type
number: 42


You could also use Map by adding just number to Extra:
number: 42

Yes, I think we'd want this covered by artwork if at all possible. What's a drawing number exactly, though? How would such a drawing be cited?

Since it’s a technical drawing, rather than art, I wonder whether Artwork should be split into Image and Artwork, ala the split of Video and Film?

yeah, that migh make sense -- that way e.g. photos in archival research could also be classified as images rather than the somewhat awkward artwork.

Yes—I can think of a lot of examples where Image would be a better fit than Artwork. Would also permit omitting the showing/event fields from Image.
