Error-ID: 1672191025, can't import PDF file

I tried again and again to import a paper (pdf format) into zotero. There's a copy of the file saved in the storage directory, but it does not appear in the zotero window. Also it is not possible to create a link to the original file on my harddrive. It just happens nothing if I try to import the file via the "green +" menu, there is no error message.

If I try "Import..." in the actions menu (gear icon), there is an error prompted: "the format of the selected files is not supported" (translated from German).

The pdf file can be found here:
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1365-294X.2010.04568.x/pdf

the problem remains after restart of system, all other files I tried are imported without any problems

I have send an error report with the ID: 1672191025

I am running
Zotero for Firefox, Version 4.0.8,
Firefox 17.0.5,
Windows Xp Professional, ServicePack 3

Error-ID: 1672191025

Thanks in advance

Christian
  • Could you explain the exact steps you're taking, and what's not happening?

    http://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_bugs#provide_steps_to_reproduce
If I try "Import..." in the actions menu (gear icon), there is an error prompted: "the format of the selected files is not supported" (translated from German).
That would never work for a PDF.
  • I realized that. It was just an erroneous trial to get that paper in my library. Sorry for posting. But the problem still persists.

What usually do and also did in this case was
to click "link to file" in the "green-plus" menu and chose the PDF file from my local hard drive. As result there is nothing happening. When I click "save copy of file" Zotero saves a copy to the "storage" directory, does not import the PDF file to my local zotero library.
This really only is the case for that special file (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1365-294X.2010.04568.x/pdf).
All other PDF files I have ever tried work fine.

PS: I am using the German version of zotero and translated the German menu commands to English. Just to let you know if the menu commands that I reported do not exactly match the English ones.
  • works for me. One thing to try would be to rename the file to something simple (i.e. short filename consisting only of letters) before trying to get it into Zotero.
If that doesn't work, a debug ID for the process of the "Link to File" operation would be helpful
    http://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output
  • Unfortunately renaming the file to a short name (only one letter) does also not work.

The debug ID for "Link to File" is D1584426130,
for "Save a Copy" it is: D1923958323

    Thanks

We saw this in another thread.

If you can, I'd try upgrading from Firefox 17 to Firefox 20.
