Hello. Problem solved. I realized that there was a problem with my Z setting. Automatically update translators was unchecked, and now that I have ticked it, both firefox and chrome can save pdf. Thanks for all your help!

I have foxit reader. Do I have to have Adobe reader to download pdfs automatically? Can't download the open access file either.
