+1 on "a feature that would automatically mark items as new/unread and then automatically mark them as read when I reach the last page." Of course I’d want to be able to manually change it as well.

Here’s what I’ve hacked together: https://github.com/Calorion/zotero-better-notes-reference-note-template
-
Sweet! Thanks!

The Save to Zotero plugin doesn’t seem to recognize Goodreads at all. It saves as Web Page instead of Book. Example: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/223666.The_General_of_the_Dead_Army
-
Unfortunately, `Zotero Preferences…` is doing nothing for me in Safari 17.6.
-
This doesn’t seem to be working. I force-updated the translators and restarted both Safari and Zotero, but https://acoup.blog/2022/06/03/collections-total-generalship-commanding-pre-modern-armies-part-ii-commands/, at least, still imports as Web Pag…

This *must* be an optional feature. It really makes no sense as an always-on function.
-
Please implement this feature for desktop as well.
-
+1. I’m trying to put Polybius’ Histories into Zotero, and there doesn’t seem to be any correct Item Type.
-
@mjthoraval, the fix seems to work fine, and I’ve been using the script effectively—thanks! But I have noticed one problem: It only works for the left pane of a vertically-split PDF view.
-
Indeed it is…now is there a way to turn it *off*?
-
https://www.zotero.org/support/plugins should be updated, as the listed Zotero Citation Counts Manager only supports Zotero 6.
-
I think the problem was that I didn’t realize that it takes several seconds after you click the button for the snapshot to be created. Some sort of indicator indicating this would be helpful.
-
It works pretty well! However, using “b” as the shortcut causes “No text selected” errors to pop up when writing comments on annotations.
-
Oh, I forgot about that trick. Thanks for reminding me.
-
That never works in Safari, and didn’t work in Firefox when I tried it earlier, but I tried it again in Firefox just now, and it did work. Thanks.
-
Am I doing something wrong, or is the method @arild describes unavailable on the Mac using Safari? I’ve tried dragging URLs into Zotero multiple time into multiple places (on a blank area in the middle pane, onto an existing item, onto a folder), an…

I’m running into a situation where I need to enter a URL directly into Zotero, as the feature request here suggests: A URL that won’t import properly using the Zotero extension. The URL in question is https://spsp.org/news-center/character-context-b…

Yes, I want the sidebar annotations to behave like those under the attachment (good to hear that editing is planned!).
-
More relevantly, that trick does not work on *links* in Zotero as it does in, say, Safari, bringing up a preview of the linked site—a very useful feature. Zotero should *enhance,* not *replace*, the standard macOS behavior here.
-
I said “workflow,” not “mechanism.” The mechanisms differ; the workflows are the same. They all, save Zotero, have a bookmarking mechanism of one kind or another. I can use Acrobat or PDF Expert to add a TOC. Using them to add temporary bookmarks w…

Okay, I just realized that such links are created whenever text is copied and pasted in Zotero, which is awesome, but it would still be useful to be able to use such (I assume `zotero://`) links outside of the app.
-
I mean, that *would* work, but it’s not the workflow in *every other PDF reader,* it’s slightly more effort (selecting a word and choosing the proper color as opposed to clicking the ‘bookmark’ icon, or using the keyboard shortcut), and now your PDF…
-
I think just a tool to be able to link one annotation with another to make a (seemingly-) continuous highlight would be sufficient—and extremely desirable.
-
>PDF bookmarks are named a bit misleadingly and are principally used to reflect document structure/ToC. I am very confused by this claim. The Mac Preview app, for instance, has distinct Bookmarks and Table of Contents tabs, and adding a bookmark…
-
Yeah, I got it to work, but in some PDFs it “misses”; it catches the word about an inch left of the one the insertion point is over.
-
Okay, that (sort of) works, as does the equivalent trackpad gesture, but what’s selected doesn’t seem to matter, and it often picks up the wrong word, and can only look up words, not phrases. That’s better than nothing, but a far cry from using the …

FYI the “Report” type seems to fit best for this purpose.
-
Fine, except that when you enter "Eldridge M. Mount III” as a full name (which is often more convenient) and then click the button to change it to ‘last, first’, you end up with “III, Eldridge M. Mount.” Which is obviously not desirable behavior. Zo…

So does this translator exist?
