Thanks, will do

If you mean something like assigning a star rating for good or bad, there isn't anything standard in Zotero. You could create individual tags "star_1", "star_2" and so on, but there are some caveats: 1. If this is for a group, you cannot distinguish…

Can you upload examples of the "working" and "not working" PDFs to an online storage and share the download link? The PDFs that are not working - do they have a DOI in them? What happens if you copy that DOI and use it in the "Add Item(s) by Identi…

While I have not used it, ZotDroid (a third party app) is being actively updated: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/67409/zotdroid-a-zotero-client-for-android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=computer.benjamin.zotdr0id You said your…

I answered your question in the other thread: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/74208/zotfile-not-scanning-folder-for-new-files#latest
-
Zotfile doesn't do exactly what you might be wanting. It does not scan the "source" folder continuously and attach a PDF to an item in Zotero without user clicks. Here's what it can do: 1. Allow you to attach the most recent file in the source fold…

Okay, great. Is it better to turn off auto-sync when I am editing/moving hundreds of items in the library and across groups, and then turn sync back on after I'm done? Or, I should never bother and just let it be?
-
That's strange. I am trying to drag seven items (all presentations) and I just rechecked that none of them exist in the target collection. How do I lookup which item is LGN8E4QZ?
-
Can this be circumvented by using a VPN service and switching the IP each time Scholar slows/blocks you? Not elegant, but worth a shot?
-
Thanks. Initially, I could not see that option because it is selection sensitive and I did not have a style selected that uses journal abbr selected (and I've never used such a style). The documentation was not clear about this, so maybe consider ad…

OK, thanks. I have a few hundred items for which I can download PDFs but not through the "Find Available PDF" function. For each of these: 1. I could create a new item via the connector and merge with the old one. Or, 2. Download the PDF and then a…

With only VPN and no web-based proxy or login, Zotero was able to download PDF for each of these three when creating the item using the Firefox browser connector: 1. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0021850218301642 2. https://www.…

No. But these are possible: - drag/drop PDFs in to Zotero and it will get the metadata and attach the PDF to the new item - have Zotfile attach the latest PDF from user designated folder to an item in Zotero

Just in case you need help on how: http://zotfile.com/ Download the .xpi file. Then, in Zotero, go to Tools > Add-ons > Settings (gear symbol in top-right) > Install Add-on From File > Point to the .xpi file you downloaded

What do you mean by "folders"? Are you referring to collections that appear in the left-hand pane? https://www.zotero.org/support/collections_and_tags
-
Anything I can do at my end to improve/fix this?
-
@dstillman What might be causing that last issue mentioned above?
-
Your best option is to create a group and invite your advisor to join the group. You can drag-drop the items, you want to share, from your "My Library" to the group library. Both of you need to have sync enabled. Note that if you update an item in …
-
A local copy is always available. But if you have more than one local copy (on two different computers), then you need to sync to keep them concurrent. Just to confirm, do you know that only the attachments count towards your storage size? You can …

I setup a VPN to another university and re-ran the "Find Available PDFs". No split tunneling here, so it worked but I found another issue. There are two "types" of journals/articles for which the PDF is available via VPN (without any web based login…

Thanks, Dan. For now, I am working my way manually through these pending PDFs. No clue why the VPN login is not making the PDFs available to me - I'll look in to that (again) later. *Update* I think this is why the VPN is not working: https://www.l…

Part 1 With proxy redirection disabled but Cisco VPN connected, I do not have access to the PDF. The automatic installation did not work for me, so I went the manual route. https://oit.ncsu.edu/campus-it/campus-data-network/vpn/vpn-installation-in…

I was able to install and connect using Cisco AnyConnect VPN client software. However, I still cannot get Zotero to download the PDF/s. For an example item, where the find PDF does not work, if I click on the DOI or URL field in Zotero, it opens the…

Thanks, all. I'll try the VPN and report back if I have issues. @danstillman Just FYI, overall this feature worked smooth and fast, so thanks a bunch for getting this implemented.

I used the "Find Available PDFs" on about 700 items and Zotero downloaded about 200 PDFs. The remaining PDFs are from journals not subscribed by my work organization. I can get to these PDFs if I login to my university account and have .prox part in…

1a. Will try and report back if I have issues 1b. Guess what, it all happened in one step! I selected a bunch of items, right-clicked and selected "Find Available PDFs". The PDFs were download, renamed per Zotfile rules, moved to my PDF folder, and…

1a. It's possible I am assuming some automatic Zotfile functionality that does not exist or not describing my intended workflow correctly. Currently, I (a) save an item via the browser connector, (b) manually download the PDF to my custom folder - C…

(So, all Zotfile questions go in this one thread?) 1. How can I setup Zotero and Zotfile such that: When I add an item using Zotero's browser connector, Zotero will download the associated PDF to a folder watched by Zotfile, and then Zotfile will r…
-
Also, just FYI, Zotero's browser connector will add new items to whatever collection is selected. So, if you are working on a certain topic for which you have a collection and plan to drag-drop items to that collection later, just select the collect…

As you know, there's two kinds of co-editing and for the sake of discussion let's call one as "collaborative" writing where multiple authors are editing a document but not at the same instance, while the second is "co-authoring" where multiple peopl…
