got it. thanks for the explanation, I appreciate understanding what's going on behind the scenes.
-
gotcha, yeah, makes sense. Well, if we get Original Date as a real field, then it's easy enough to have the option of displaying that as a column, so that would solve it.
-
hmm... where does the data displayed in the "Year" column come from? Is it actually a separate field? It seems to be populated from the Date field...
-
thanks for the update @adamsmith, much appreciated! what about my question about Year?
-
Assuming that "Year" is sort of a pseudo-field that gets pulled from Date (?), it sure would be nice to have the option of pulling it instead from Original Date. Is that possible?
-
So, will there be a separate Original Date field in Zotero 5.1? That seems to be what's indicated on the whiteboard https://github.com/zotero/zotero-bits/wiki/Zotero-types-whiteboard but I am running the latest 5.0.97-beta.52 and still have to use…

A side issue is that the Year column in the center listing pane shows the date of the publication, not the original date. When I'm thinking of a work, say, for example, Henry Miller's Sexus, it makes a lot more sense to to me to have the Year be 195…

updated to 5.0.97-beta.52+59455ebfa and confirmed, Safari Connector works. thank you!
-
(I did the workaround putting e.g. "Issued: 2019-08-20" in Extra, and that does work.)

I just came across this issue also. Bummer that there still isn't a Date field for podcasts. I did the workaround putting e.g. "Issued: 2019-08-20" in Extra, and that does work though.
-
The Date field still seems to be missing from the Podcast item type. True? I'm running Zotero 5.0.97-beta.51+6206209ed

I can see from looking at the two debug traces that they both went looking in WorldCat. The Chrome connector successfully got a result and processed it, while the Safari connector failed at that point, and then sort of got stuck in a loop. My guess…

ah. ok. I tried to submit debug log from the connector, but it gives me an error. I uploaded the output here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yDUFRjJVuCH8s43Qs2KNctk9x0jTSNxT/view?usp=sharing ------- compare this to the successful connector post …

got it. Now running 5.0.97-beta.51+6206209ed and Connector 5.0.92... and it still stalls. debug output D351246342 screen shot https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qSssF3YNZ-rV_DdAbJ7nDOEl3K9_fOXa/view?usp=sharing

I am running 5.0.97-beta.50+5f61ac23a, which I installed just couple of days ago from https://www.zotero.org/support/dev_builds to upgrade from -beta.49 Is there a newer version? If so, how can I tell when there is a newer beta version? (there is…

Just found this thread and tested it out--and it works! I just entered the original publication date in the Extra field like this, as @bwiernik suggested: Original date: 1950 I use a Scrivener→ODF→ODF Scan workflow. The scannable cite footnote en…

I am running Zotero 5.0.97-beta.50+5f61ac23a on MacOS Big Sur 11.6 with Safari 15.0. The Zotero Connector extension (version 5.0.85) appears in Safari, and the right-click preferences pane indicates that "Zotero is currently available." When I go to…

Neat. I installed the beta, and I see the new editor now. So If I'm making research notes from a book of various quotations and their associated page numbers, I would store all of those in one note, and format the note like I see in the "new note ed…

I had the same question. thanks for asking, and for the answer. related question: I often take notes when reading a book, and make note of specific quotes on specific pages. Is the best way to store these quote references in Zotero using a Book it…
