No, that's enough information for me -- thank you again. I just wanted to make sure that I understood correctly. Thank you, dstillman.

Or do you just mean that I should run both on ~/.zotero and/or ~/Documents/Zotero\ storage ?
-
OK. Which of those commands do I run, and on which folder?
-
Yep, that was it: ~/.cache/zotero was owned by root. I'm not sure why this is: rsync seems to have done some weird things with permissions when restoring, and I've tripped over several. Thank you, dstillman. Quick follow-up question: is there anyth…

I'm having this problem under Linux, too. I recently reformatted my hard drive, reinstalled my operating system, and restored my documents and settings from a backup. This is the first time I've tried to open Zotero in a few days, and I'm getting th…

Often, yes -- and, again, I realize it's a convenience and I can always add metadata manually. I only really reported it due to the "unexpected error" comment. (Generally, when it fails, it's with a message along the lines of "metadata could not be …

Alas, no dice: it looks like it's been a while since the notes disappeared, and they changes have propagated to all copies. Sigh. But, in the end, though it means re-doing work, they're just notes, and notes can be reconstructed. Adam, thank you fo…

Looks like it's working again! -- thanks for the quick attention, and thanks for a great piece of software. (=

Affects me, too: Report ID # 2027808797 Zotero Standalone 4.0.28 Zotero Connector 4.0.26 Google Chrome (not Chromium) 46.0.2490.86 (64-bit) Linux Mint 17.2 a URL not working: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407384/ apt-get report…

Actually, I was at a coffee shop at the time -- now that I'm home again, it looks like everything is working normally. Another Internet-related crime to tack onto the long list of what this coffee shop does, apparently. Thanks for your quick re…

Ah, I hadn't looked comparatively at the various articles. Darnit. Thanks for your attention, and I appreciate the suggestion. (=
-
Whoops. I forgot there are no stable URLs there. Another thing I don't like about the site. The article is Patrice Rankine's "Passing as Tragedy: Philip Roth's The Human Stain, the Oedipus Myth, and the Self-Made Man." I found it through Google Sch…

Urk, that Chronicle certainly seems to be a moving target. Thank you for your help. It works! However, I note that Chronicle blogs (example: chronicle.com.proxy.library.ucsb.edu:2048/blogs/onhiring/do-you-really-want-to-be-the-rules-sergeant/42…

It worked! (After updating, that is.) Many thanks for your quick response -- and for an excellent and wonderful piece of software.
-
It's happening again. Here is a URL that fails: http://chronicle.com.proxy.library.ucsb.edu:2048/article/The-Many-Betrayals-of-Paul-de/142505/ The page is fully loaded when I try to add it to Zotero.
-
It was definitely fully loaded last night (the icon didn't appear until it had finished loading). However, I just tried it again now, and it seems to be working again.
-
And it seems like the Wikisource translator works! Thank you again.
-
Excellent, and thanks again. Do I need to uninstall 3.0.14 from the Firefox addons page first, or can I just click the link to install 4.0b2? The download page doesn't say either way.
-
Just got back from my spring break travels to find excellent news! Thank you so much. I'm going to roll Firefox back to 19.0 when I get home tonight and give it a whirl. Again, it's much appreciated. Thank you.
-
Well, here's what I was wanting to import yesterday: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Amazing_Grace It's not in my general area, but I wanted to capture a reference to it because I was reading something that was tangentially related to it and wan…

Whoops. I meant that I would like to request a Wikisource translator. Sorry about that.
-
I'd like to add my voice to the request for a Wikimedia Commons translator. I'd find it helpful, even if I don't use Commons as a primary source. (=
-
Yes -- I'd found the book through Google Scholar, which Zotero had already redirected through the proxy. I assume that the link from Google Scholar was the reason why the Google Books page was proxied, too.
-
By golly, you're right. (The folder icon in the address bar changes to a book then, too.) Thanks!
-
Ah -- in case it's relevant, I do use Zotero standalone occasionally, but definitely haven't done so since I reinstalled my operating system about a week ago.
-
Whoops, I hadn't seen your later comments before replying. I did in fact delete the Firefox mimetypes.rdf and then fully shut down Firefox (in fact, I rebooted my system), but the problem was still occurring until I removed the mimetypes.rdf file fr…

Zotero Firefox was opening.
-
That didn't do it, but I found a solution. Apparently, Zotero has created a mimetypes.rdf file in its own installation directory (on my system, this is at /home/patrick/.zotero/zotero/3o6p6zne.default/mimeTypes.rdf). Here are the contents of the fil…

That DOES seem to be much faster (disabling and uninstalling a few extensions seems to have helped, too). I'll keep an eye on it and report back if things get slow again.
-
Sorry to take so long to reply -- I've been in a grading frenzy, followed by traveling and being away from the Internet. I'll try disabling Firefox extensions and see how that works. How do I disable "show automatic"?
