Thank you for taking the idea further, great to see this!

That's a very interesting new (to me at least) academic search engine, thank you for pointing out. It does offer citation lists for a given target paper, but I could not find a way to cross these for multiple target papers.
-
Thanks! Yeah the My Library intermediary step seems to be the only workaround. Saving each item into My Library still needs to be done manually be clicking on the star, but it helps if one restricts the search results for all citing papers by inputi…

I realised that there is a simple&decent workaround to do this in Zotero: - create a new (group) library - for every paper of interest, pull up the Google Scholar page that lists the papers citing it - create a separate collection and import the…

ok, thanks.
-
Ha, hadn't thought of the restarting panacea - turns out to've been enough in this case. Thanks!
-
I have the same problem lately, with an up to date version (5.0.66), and with Zotero having no barriers to Internet access. Namely, when I import an item by drag&dropping its PDF into Zotero, nothing happens whereas normally an item was created …
-
Sorry, I realise I had already raised this before - my bad: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/72280
-
Thanks very much. It's probably not a GS ban, as that normally opens up a captcha page which in this case does not appear (and also I can access GS normally). I'll just contact the author then.
-
OK, will submit screenshots viaemail as you suggest - thanks a lot for your help.

The tags that appear in the selector are the auto tags that I was seeing a few days ago, and that disappeared from the tag list after adamsmith released the update, after the post above. I don't know enough about the inner workings of Zotero to know…
-
@adamsmith, Just to let you know that this problem still exists when typing into the "add tag" text fields - there, automatically added tags (that I never applied, and which don't appear in my list of tags) are suggested.
-
I only import papers so I don't think I imported any such formats. Anyway, I see the auto tags are gone now that I've let Zotero update just now (that was FAST btw!). Thanks again
-
Thanks a lot Costas, will follow those tips, am grateful to you for them!
-
Thank you very much for those hints, they've been very helpful.
-
@bwiernik Thank you so much, this is really useful. You are right, creating a new library just for this meta-analysis is much cleaner, as I would not want the thousands of items imported during this process to "mingle" with items in my general MyLib…

@DWL-SDCA You are right, I know this is far from trivial. Manually, I would just look at the key fields (first author, year, and title). Is this how you would do it as well, i.e. manually go through each pair and decide to merge/not merge? It seems…
-
Thanks for suggesting this. Unless I misunderstand, this would require that I manually merge every pair of duplicates (or however many there are), which would mean a lot of work for collections with hundreds of results. Selecting all under Duplicate…

Thanks for your reply - will check as soon as I can and report back with the answer.

Might be relevant to note that the corresponding environment variables that would seem to control background colour, don't appear to have an effect when changed. I used the advanced settings editor to set variables such as browser.display.backgroun…

Well, the actual error I had obtained upon opening Zotero earlier, as explained above.......
-
OK, I followed the steps and obtained the message: Submitted with Debug ID D520721532 Anything else I need to do?
-
OK, I see. Well, in that case I'll just share the workaround I found, for anyone who might be struggling: - Ctrl+H, the Find tab - from Replace|Format|Font, specify the font that Zotero mistakenly applies to the in-text citatiions - Find In -> Ma…
-
@adamsmith: I disagree that this is not a common request. I myself (and others) have asked similar questions on the forum, that all boil down to the ability to change the formatting of *all* in-text citations at once. The simplest way to do that wou…

So just to wrap up, all that was needed to respond to my initial query is contained in this thread. Thank you so much to members of this wonderful community - in particular damnation and bwiernik - for your continued support.
-
damnation , this works just fine for now, thanks so much to all and ill respond more fully soon

Unfortunately I am *very* pressed for time so this won't help. Am I correct then, that for all intents and purposes, it is not possible for a CSL-novice to customise the template to also have journal and year at the end?
-
the page at https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step did not help, much as I tried... any more ideas at all? Thanks again for your help.
-
and also, what to do with my main document, where any of these footnote styles that I apply lead to references being erroneously typed in different fonts (and changing the style back and forth, or restarting word, doesn't help) ?
-
You're right that it's easier to start from that one. But still, if you say the markup is not trivial to edit and customise, then how do I change the existing reference template, which is Author, 'Title' ..into the one I want, which involves adding…
