Another update: I can reproduce the error on my computer by downloading zotero 5.0 from https://www.zotero.org/download/client/dl?channel=release&platform=linux-x86_64&version=5.0 , then letting it update to version 5.0.4. It restarts after …

I did some research. The internet suggests that this error typically happens when you are trying to execute code from a directory (often /tmp) mounted as "noexec". For example: https://github.com/docker/compose/issues/1339 https://support.datasta…

Oh, sorry I didn't say in my original post, but in case it helps, my operating system is Ubuntu 17.04. The problem continues to recur for me, after some but not every update. The fix I proposed above (replacing my "Zotero_linux-x86_64" folder with …

I see this is fixed (at least on windows) as of version 5.0-beta.174+9637770 . Thank you! (Well, you can still right-click the ghost tag as before. But the main annoyance, left-clicking the ghost tag, is fixed now. Yay!)

Well, I'm quite sure that I never ran the set_launcher_icon script myself, nor did I simlink any file, yet the shortcut appeared! It was very convenient.

Thanks! Seems to be fixed AFAICT.

Oh, sorry I didn't say, my previous comment was using 5.0-beta.166+e9fd7f2

This happens to me too. If I have a collection open, and attach a note to an item in the collection, then drag the attached note OFF the item and drop it into the main list for the collection, then I get that error next sync. The workaround is to f…

In case anyone else reads this, here's how I got it to work: I added uid=steve, gid=steve to the line in /etc/fstab (steve is my linux username). So now my account owns the partition. (Earlier, root was the owner, which I thought was OK because every…

Dan, you're right! Following your hint, I found this discussion which I think will answer my question, or at least point me in the right direction: http://askubuntu.com/questions/92863/mount-ntfs-partition-at-startup-with-non-root-user-as-owner …

The new one, 14.10. I can't say whether 14.04 had the same problem or not, because I changed the partitions at the same as I upgraded.

I'm using 4.0.23.1. The NTFS partition that the zotero folder is in, is not encrypted (I'm 99% confident). On the other hand, my home folder *is* encrypted ... does that matter?

Whoops, please ignore what I said above. Actually the file names with diacritics somehow got corrupted when I copied the zotero folder from my old Windows Vista computer to my new Ubuntu computer. Not sure what I did wrong when I transferred the fil…

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 (Linux). I just checked my filesystem locale: I typed "locale" in a terminal and everything was set to en_US.UTF-8. So there shouldn't be a problem, right? Yet when I add something to the bibliography, and it auto-downloa…

OK, here's how you fix it, it's very easy: 1) Install the Stylish add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108 2) Go to this page: http://userstyles.org/styles/22013 and click "Install with Stylish", then click "Instal…
