I'd also love to see something like this. I tend to acquire and manage my PDFs from outside of Zotero, but would like to have them added when they are put in a watch folder.

Thank you very much!

Oh wow, I didnt even know that the Groups function exists - it seems to be exactly this. At $120/yr for unlimited storage, that may be the solution. I'll have to look more closely at the terms of service to see how my goals would work with it. I s…

Thanks. So you havent linked the two with the Zotero Metadata Impoter tool, or other means? And you simply use one for books and one for articles? I'd love any other people's feedback as well!

Thanks very much! Looking forward to the functionality. I'm endlessly impressed with the responsiveness and helpfulness in this community - it is making my waffling between Zotero, Mendeley and Calibre much easier to resolve :)

Did you ever figure this out?

Oops - turns out I had for some reason changed my data directory to be a subdirectory withing Zotero. So I changed a json that was not even being used. I updated the actual one and it works now. Sorry! Not sure how to close the Report ID for this

Looks like we posted at the same time again - thanks for the detailed response! It seems to me that being able to scrape ISBNs is more efficient, even if having to double check them, than doing it all manually. If you decide to do any of this, ho…

Also, I can't necessarily write code, but I am generally capable of splicing together code snippets - if there are limits to what you're able to help with here, I could try my hand at it if you could point me in the right direction (translators that…

Thanks for the response! Looks like while you were writing, I was editing my post to compare to Mendeley. 1. It can scrape all of these AND find copies of most of the PDFs. 2. It recognizes references given the ISBN on the page. Zotero just makes …

Agreed - all fields should be available (or, if you understandably dont want it to be too cluttered, we should be able to browse for the desired field). I'd like to see ISBN for example.

Thanks

Thank you kindly.

Thanks. I'm going to try to do something with Calibre and excel to create a formatted Bibtex file to import to zotero. Some others seemed to have had success with various parts of this process so I should be able to piece something together. I'll re…

I'll add my support to this. I have thousands of poorly formatted pdfs to import and i have isbns for many of them. For now I will probably MacGyver something with import to calibre, download Metadata, export to a csv somehow, manipulate it all and…

Wow. I'm looking to do precisely this with about 4000 PDFs. I simply want to add tags, notes and change title, while only linking to the external files. The technical coding stuff seems a bit beyond me though - are you able to share any sample excel…
