Here's the instructions for using Acrobat's proximity search across multable PDFs. To do this. > In Acrobat open Menu then Preferences the choose Search > set "Range of words for Proximity to 25 (or whatever you like), then close. > open a …

Another option is to use Filelocator PRO You can do complex searches with that tool. (evolution NEAR:25 wellbeing) OR (evolution NEAR:25 well-being) This app is fast and does not require indexing.

I use X1 search, but found it to be clunky at times with PDFs. You can do proximity searches, but for an unknown reason it will not take you to the place IN the PDF. It finds them with the search using the NEAR keyword, but then you have to search m…

I think it has been mentioned, but worth mentioning again. If you put your references for each of you book's chapters into a separate zot collection, then you can generate a bib per chapter from each of the zot collections. In this case you will be…

I vote yes!
-
oh, boy. This editor stripped out what was between the single quotes, and actually did a carriage return. Actually that is kind of what I want to occur when generating the bib.
-
OK, but you can't simply put ' ' into the abstract in zot. Zot will just put the actual text into the abstract and the the function of a special character. Would I need to insert a 'special character' into the abstract or elsewhere?

Yes, thx. I just needed to know that I was on the right track... even if it may not be the track I want. I do use Obsidian. At the end of this thread, discussing academic workflows, a poster suggest "Why use Zotero at all" due to all of the piece-…

OK. So then I have to create annotations, turn those into notes, then use the Word plugin to search for the note, then insert it. That's too many steps. I must be missing something.
-
Yes. If that is the way it works, then it is a misunderstanding. I don't know though. I must not be missing something. I imagined that I could just drag an annotation to Word. When dropped into Word it would create a field where it puts the refere…

just a note. In the Word doc I can only get the hyperlink type fields which the bib generator does not recognize. If I remove the hyperlink word fields from the drag/drop processes via these set of preferences, then no MS Word fields are created, a…

This is over my head... Here is what I found on-line regarding the error "Even I got the same error, I cleared it, it was an css error I used wrong format in css file which caused me the error, basically check the syntax of html, css."

I'm having a similar problem as described here https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/425457#Comment_425457 And as suggested in that thread I 'reloaded' the MS Word addon in Word's startup folder. But I'm still having the same error as repor…

Since the first post I was able to stop the links and now the whole drag and drop annotation is plain text. This was accomplished in zot via Preferences > Export > and then changing the "Not Format" to not include Zot Links. However, my goal…

No, no confusion. Just terminology. Zot uses the word 'creator' within the search box drop down of options. That is all that is meant by my use of that word, and why I used that word. So... it wasn't until I ran the pdf through acrobat as describe…

Working off of the assumption that it is a PDF problem I used Acrobat to resave the PDF. 1) open the pdf and save using the 'Save as Other' option. 2) Then the 'Optimized PDF' option 3) Then on the pop-up check the 'Transparency' option and "make c…

I guess all I'm asking is... Is tag management actually being worked on in earnest, or is it a low priority item?
-
Is there a page/url where we can see what the priority list for development. Not having a decent tagging system/manager is killing me, and apparently other too, by the looks at comments over the years.
-
OK. When I get more in that 'virtual' collection I will do the drag and drop. The confusion is... you can drag and drop with the + 'copy' icon present. What I expected, as is how this works elsewhere, is that I could hold down the shift key to not m…
-
I found that you can use a menu process to move items out. Is it a bug that you cannot do a drag/drop as you can between other collections?
-
Could we have an update on the estimated delivery of a Tag Manager?
-
OK. Thx for your insight.

This is a portion of the Bibtex export from Web Of Science (see below). During the export you can choose certain fields to export. I chose all of the ones having to do with citations, because it is a major factor in choosing to include it in future …

Someday we'll have a single app end to end. For now, I'm finding Obsidian is the better tool for notes management/integration/tagging all with a graphical interface to explore the interconnectedness of my notes. I use zot for the primary repository …
-
There is one change to what I mentioned. As dstillman has pointed out elsewhere, you cannot search separately for annotations within a note, if all annotations are combined within a single note. Consequently you would need to keep each annotation as…

See the Discussion "Zotero Workflow Lacking" for a more complete description of the end to end workflow.

Beginning to End Integration Work Flow 1) I'm just beginning to get over the initial learning curve of using Research Rabbit as the academic data/paper collector. It is integrated with zot. What you find in RR can be imported into zot. RR is whole …

very good points. Hence the need for a full integration. Something maybe you could send up your food chain, because this is a bit off topic and future oriented, but it would be a KILLER app if zot and obsidian were one app. As it is now I can't us…
