No, all that would've done was reset Zotero to use the default data directory location. The error was because you had your data directory in OneDrive. You cannot do that.

Upgrading wouldn't affect that field, which hasn't changed since 2006. Possible some plugin you installed affected it.

I don't think any apps allow that in full-screen mode — "full screen" really means "full screen". You can see this just with Safari or TextEdit.
