That's a very old version of the plugin (from June 2023) that breaks Zotero. Install the current version.

You mean they are auto-generated at import and not editable? From the page: "You can view and change the title and filename by clicking on the attachment and looking in the item pane." And all Z6 attachment will use file names and cannot be conforme…

Restart in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”), which temporarily disables all plugins. If that fixes it, you'll need to identify the plugin that's causing it and then report the problem to the plugin's developer.

I'd suggest reading the linked section again. It sounds like you're missing a bunch of things it explains, including what's actually new here, what was actually necessary before, and the reasons for the change.

Please start new threads for new issues, as we asked in that thread. I've moved this to a new thread. If you want us to look into something, you need to actually report it — no one else has mentioned this. We'd want a Report ID and screenshots to s…

@k.durdevic: Better BibTeX is compatible with Zotero 7. Not sure why you think it isn't.
-
For what it's worth, you can press Return/Enter to focus the first result, use the up/down arrow keys to jump between matches, press Esc to clear the search, and press right-arrow if necessary to expand the collection you're on (or + to expand all c…

(Please stop posting to the announcement thread — I specifically asked there to start new threads for any problems, and you were reminded of that in response to your initial comment as well.) To perform a clean installation, I uninstalled Zotero 6 a…

@Drag0nR3b0rn: There's no difference between beta 116 and the release version. The beta will continue to be updated frequently. If you want a more stable version with less-frequent updates going forward, you should switch to the release version.
-
@Skelbti: From my post above: If you're running the beta and would like to switch back to the release version at this time, you can reinstall it from the download page.

Can you provide a Report ID?

Zotero 7 works the same as Zotero 6 in this regard. If the sidebar is open to the Annotations tab, clicking an annotation on the page selects the annotation in the sidebar. If the Annotations tab is closed, clicking an annotation shows the popup. It…

@haraldaa: Yeah, this is just a timing issue, so it will just happen intermittently. We'll fix.
-
It’s not the version. It’s something else about how you’re opening it, or some fluke of timing.
-
@zhikaiyici, @pcinque: Should be fixed now in beta 116 — thanks.
-
We've reverted to an older version of the file that will probably fix this for you. More details: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/116611/zotero-beta-desktop-file-not-working-anymore
-
OK, thanks. We've reverted to that version in beta 116.
-
Are you sure? We didn't change actually anything related to this.
-
@kasi07: Can you confirm that the latest version in the repo works for you?
-
It was a new installation, yes. But I think we can probably just revert the latest change to the desktop file, since I don't think we were actually getting any reports of problems before that. Someone just pointed out that the 'desktop-file-validate…

There was another report of this in Fedora 40, but as I note there, it's working for me on Fedora 40.
-
Right, that's a problem with your internet connection.
-
We've seen this as well, and I think we have an idea for a fix.
-
I'm not sure what you mean by "worked fine on my server" means. This sounds like a problem with your internet connection.

You absolutely shouldn't need to start Zotero in any sort of compatibility mode. If you're going to post here, please respond to us when we respond to you and ask you questions. https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/469958/#Comment_469958
