Just a note to say that the "chapter" locator bug seems to have returned, so am editing my copies of the styles to comment out the problematic line of code. Anybody else following this thread for whom this bug has surfaced as an issue should probabl…

And it looks as though the File Type, "podcast" is only shown if the title of the podcast either does not contain the word "podcast" in it, or is not identified as part of, e.g., a podcast network (second example in 14.168). That makes sense.

If Better BibTeX is already converting author to director, then I wonder if it is possible to just add scripting to the postscript section of BBT to do a similar conversion of Podcaster to host and Series Title to container-title at export time... T…

@dunning https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/497441/#Comment_497441 Does this mean that it might be the case that these mappings may be revised in updates to Zotero? Given that Zotero was the first ref manager software to support CSL, it w…

@dunning Yes, I see that it "works" as a citation. Like I said above: it works both ways, and I can see a certain logic in having the non-numbered title before the programme title, modelled on interviews (and the analytic-monographic nesting. Did I …

@dunning It strikes me that, for consistency of form, the same format would make sense, with or without a season/episode number to necessarily distinguish the specific episode. If I try to think like a CMOS editor might, I would be led down that pat…

@dunning This is fantastic to know. I've updated the podcasts mentioned in my paper and the formatting works as needed except if there is no episode number (I have a couple of these, since not all podcasts number their episodes). I've tested this on…

Hmm. I knew about podcaster not being part of CSL (from reading through the comments in @dunning's CSL files). I found that by deleting Podcaster in the above data, and putting Director: Rachman || Gideon into Extra, the second of the above cita…

OK, so there seems to be a difference between how Zotero (using, I now understand, citeproc-js) renders podcast episodes and how Zettlr does it (using an 'internal' pandoc). CMOS18 14.168 suggests the following template for podcasts (using notes s…

@dunning Yep, that fixed all of them! Amazing. I wish this forum supported Markdown, then I could do a :tada: party popper emoji to say thanks! I also had one item for which the language was listed as "multiple" (it is a letter to the SecGen of the…

I have a lot of references for the paper, and I have noticed that while most are rendered in title capitalisation, as expected, a handful are done in sentence caps. This is odd, because I store all refs in sentence caps, with the APA caveat of a ca…

@dunning Tried it in shortened-notes-bibliography and it worked! I just commented out the line.

I've recently been using CMOS styles to write a paper, for which I use Zettlr for the Markdown and Zotero (via BetterBibTeX) to handle the referencing. One can then export the markdown file via Zettlr's internal pandoc to generate a new format; I ge…

Agree, 1000% [sic]

What I meant was: these Forums do not appear to support MarkDown so I couldn't easily do a  emoji to applaud your fix. ;-)
-
@mjthoraval Unfortunately, MarkDown doesn't seem to work here, nor do emoji, but

Yes, Vancouver seems to be flying now - pretty much instant. Don't know why it seemed longer before. I am running Debian 12, using the deb files provided by retorque.re (ie not a flatpak or snap).
-
I have experimented with it now. Changed from Chicago 18th to 17th to Vancouver to Turabian. There seems to be a delay on all of those formats.
-
Hmm. I am on 7.0.21 on Linux, using the .deb files provided by retorque.re.
-
Interesting. This has only happened since I updated to the latest version a few days ago (or so). Strange that a behaviour from beta has resurfaced in the latest post-beta version.
-
The only plugin I am running is the Better BibTeX plugin, without which most of my workflow would not flow at all.
-
Ah, I see what is happening. It now takes a couple of seconds for the cursor to highlight the Collection into which the item is to be dragged. This is a longer delay than what I have been accustomed to (when it was pretty much instant). So, yes, it …

That's how I get it.

Just fired up 7.0.15 and I _love_ the fact that the `Citation key` is now visible at the _top_ of the info window. I think in terms of citation keys when I am trying to recall sources, so having it visible there adds that extra bit of usefulness to …

@Zorozero - BBT works nicely and as long as you re-enter the same formula for generating the citation keys, they stay the same. Those that are pinned haven't changed.

Note that Loc. In Archive is not present in all items types, so bear that in mind (mind you, neither is CN, for that matter). If I had it to start over again, I might have gone with your idea, though. The only two fields present in all items are Ex…

I use the Call Number field to show whether items are on the Shelf S, eLectronic L on computer, Filing cabinet F, Kindle ebook E(K), Audible E(A), and about 30 other codes for various things (eg, ordered & waiting for delivery, a chapter as part…

Perfect! Rights becomes the Index ID for the Zettelkasten! Now I just need a way to change the field's name so it says just "ZID" ;-) Many thanks!
-
@adamsmith Fair call. Have started a new thread.

I'm wondering if there are any fields that are visible in ALL ref types, and which could be added as a column to the main view. Since Call Number is not yet available to all ref types, I am looking for something else that can function as a sort of …
