I get it now. The bookmarklet can only pass pdfs through the Zotero Server, not my 3rd party WebDav. I read so much on an Android tablet that I will just buy some zotero server space. I got a free ride long enough it seems. Still hoping for a hack f…

Darn, looks like it is time to pay for genuine zotero storage. I think Aurimasz managed to address a similar problem with the chrome connector in ... https://github.com/zotero/zotero/pull/409 Anyway, I hope the bookmarklet gets some attention in th…

Perhaps it has been since 2014. I see the Zotero 5 connectors on github have a Firefox connector. Maybe that will function with Conkeror+zotero-standalone? I will build and try that if it is meant for FF+standalone.

Darn, defeated for now. This setup was working in the past, so it broke at some point, maybe in the last half-year.
-
I'm an idiot, of course.... that explains why I can't use my zotero.org library for transfering attachments. Would that also explain why the Bookmarklet+conkeror+zotero-standalone fails to attach pdfs? Should I make a new debug ID? Thanks for you…

Hi Dan, Debug ID: D987328598 Here is context: in my zotero.org online library, I uploaded a pdf "Sumproducts.pdf" to an already existing journal article item. Then, I started zotero-standalone, sync'd, which downloaded the Sumproducts.pdf' attachmen…

Just a little bump to this thread. I'm also a conkeror+standalone user, so I'm hoping for a fix. I await your cookies solution. Also, the bookmarklet is the only reliable way to get papers into zotero while browsing on an android. So, I think its a…

Hi Dan, Yes, it seems to be the bookmarklet. I can successfully import webpage PDFs when using zotero-extension in Firefox, and using the Chromium extension+zotero-standalone. This is sad for me because the bookmarklet fills two important niches fo…

I have successfully migrated my zotero database across many computers. Did you follow all these steps? https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/transferring_a_library And what operating system and zotero application are you using?
-
Problem solved! I can now get both hightlights and comments, using Zotfile 3.1 updated 04/feb/2014 on Zotero 4.0.16 (both standalone and firefox addon).

I also got the bookmarklet working on Conkeror. Is there another javascript that can take the urls of pdfs (instead of a publisher's website with metadata) and pass the pdf to zotero, i.e., reproduce the "save to Zotero" option when you save a pdf u…

Hello, I'm curious if the bookmarklet (plus minor tweaking) can theorectically work with any javascript-enabled webbrowser? In the above discussion, mardukbp reports that it works for the firefox-derivative Conkeror, but what about webkit-type brows…

Hi Joscha, I created a test Firefox profile and re-installed Zotfile to version 2.3.5. I was able to extract the annotations for the aforementioned test pdf at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/61v0t7hm84vefs9/Zou_2006_The adaptive lasso and its oracle p…

Hi Joscha, Thanks for addressing the 'extraction' hanging message. Sorry, I don't know what zotfile or PDF.js version worked originally, all I know is that this issue started around July 2013. Annotations that I had extracted prior to that date can …

An update on the issue of the hanging 'Extract Annotations': I think this may be a pdf.js issue, because I can't properly view highlighted pdfs in pdf.js (which I understand is a modified version from Zotfile). Here is an example PDF https://www.d…

@aurimas Thanks again, that is interesting to know that at least the pdf pages, but not annotations, are displaying in the develpment version of PDF.js. I'll try posting on the Zotfile thread...
-
Yes, I also cannot view the annotated page in pdf.js. I think this is the key. This behaviour started ~mid-August 2013. Previously, this pdf had its annotations extracted just fine. Maybe that is approximately the time that pdf.js was last updated.…
-
Hi Aurimas, Thank you for the clarification regarding pdf.js and javascript. The annotations were made in an Andriod Acrobat Reader, synced through Dropbox back to a linux machine. It also doesn't extract on a windows 7 machines, so maybe it is inde…

Hello again, I think the problem is with pdf.js, and perhaps due to my firefox java plugin. For example, I can't view annotated PDFs in firefox's pdf.js, at all (non-annotated are fine). Furthermore, I have a warning message my Firefox Add-ons/Plugi…

Hello, Thanks a million for Zotfile. Has rahulm82 solved the annotation issue? I'm experiencing the same issue as rahulm82 posted on Aug 20th 2013, whereby the 'extract PDF annotations' message hangs infinitely, but can be cancelled with ESC. This b…

Sorry, all-in-all that was a pretty ill-conceived question: pdftotext is not used for annotation extraction and this is not the appropriate forum. I'll try on the Zotfile forum and will report back if there is a solution.

Thanks adamsmith and Simon for the tip. It looks like Qnotero does a file search in a user's home directory by the os.name() command. In R this would be Sys.info()['sysname'] and that may work for my needs. I'll take at look at the Standalone soluti…

Well in lieu of 'enhanced PDF' reading, I wrote a clunky R script which does what I want on the side (i.e., give personalized recommendations). A crude working example can be found at: http://colugos.blogspot.ca/2013/06/zotero-and-r-automatically-f…

Everything is working great now. I just had to explicitly mount my ntfs data partition through ftab and a ntfs-3g driver, whereas earlier it was being automatically mounted through gnome-volume-manager as an external device, which would be fine for …

I agree it works fine for me to share a single database & attachments. I don't notice any unusual performance issues. I created a symbolic link in my Linux home directory to the NTFS partition where I keep the Windows data and attachments, then …
-
Hello and thank you for supporting Zotero! I'm gonna try the simulink suggestion, and will report back about any performance issues. I too want to avoid having duplicate databases on a dual-booting machine with a shared data partition.

UPDATE for CloudMe and Webdav Zotero syncing: The webdav address has changed from the above posts. This is what worked for me: 1) in CloudMe create a "zotero" folder in your root directory 2) open zotero preferences --> Sync 3) select http:// (n…

@mronkko 7 does not work. Firefox for Android and Firefox are not the same, but different products. Yeah, I know. But, with superuser ("rooting") access, others seem to have enabled the usual firefox + zotero on Androids (which are just some sort …

7) (free) If Android == Linux, then can't one just i) root the Android, ii) install Firefox + Zotero Plugin + Zotfile, iii) copy over all the pdf's and their file structure, iv) configure the tablet's zotfile to access the base folder of the pdfs. ?…

Hi there, It seem there are a few (unsuccessful?) options for accessing pdfs and a Zotero library on Andriod tablets. Can anyone verify a working solution to both (preferably free)? 1) not free: pay for Zotero attachment syncing, install Zandy on An…
