All it we did was to add this group containing the "locator" label and variable into the citation part (in-text) of the style. You can see the differences here: https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/pull/3758/files

You can use a note style (instead of the author-date/numeric style you're currently using) and then choose endnotes or footnotes within Word. Plenty of styles to choose from: https://www.zotero.org/styles?format=note

When adding a citation in text with the Word plugin, you can click on the citation (the name) again and add a page.

The journal you are referring to, what is it's ISSN? The one we have a dependent Elsevier style for on the platform has the ISSN 0163-7258. Please also see this thread. Is this congruent with the mistakes you experience?

Yes. Certainly. It sounds like the strip-periods is set to true on the label variable="page". By default it should be shown as p. or pp. (Hard to tell without seeing your code though. If you want to share it, upload it to Hastebin and share a link …
