Make sure you cha he the name, ID etc. As explained here. https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step Otherwise Zotero cannot differentiate between the two styles.

The citation style has nothing to do with that. You need to set that in the formatting style in Word.

Is this an issue with all ISBNs you've tried? Could you give some example ISBNs that give you this problem?

Try changing to a completely different style like APA or IEEE and then back to your note style.

The general instructions are there. All you need to do is follow the steps. Search the code of the AMA style I linked for page-range-format and you'll see the part that makes it happen. You'd need to emulate that then.
