I can reproduce the highlighting issue. But not the search issue. Are you talking about search inside Zotero PDF reader or search in the whole Zotero library?
-
I can reproduce that. Preview.app for me correctly copies the text, while Zotero PDF reader doesn't. It should be fixable. Thanks for reporting.
-
@night7 Which Linux distribution do you use?
-
That makes sense. We will improve this.
-
Highlight annotations currently need either quotation marks or to be in a blockquote. And it seems that you disabled quotation marks. As soon as you edit a note, highlights without quotation marks are converted to plain text.
-
Could you provide a video and Debug ID for it happening?
-
Could you provide a screenshot?
-
A video demonstrating the issue would be very helpful.
-
The text is normal and readable in other aka Notability and others. Can you provide a screenshot demonstrating that the same text is gibberish in Zotero but normal in Notability? I just checked and the gibberish text is just missing in Notability. …

Mostly likely the PDF file has an incorrect glyph to unicode character mapping, and the same problem will also appear on any PDF viewer.
-
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll see what we can do.
-
Yes, we are aware about that, and it will be fixed at some point.
-
If you try to copy text, the result is the same with Preview.app, and I guess with all other PDF viewers. The problem is that some fonts, in the PDF file, don't have a proper glyph to unicode character mapping.
-
@haug Yes, we are storing tags in a PDF file. What PDF viewer were you using? We can try to find a more resilient way to store that additional data.
-
Yes, sometimes pressing Ctrl-F jumps to the library search and if you type something it will start search in the library instead of the note (we will fix this soon). But it looks that freezing problem is not related to notes. How many items do you …

What is the configuration of your computer: RAM, CPU and operating system? Please provide a Debug ID as well.
-
Is the note very large? Does it happen with all notes?
-
I guess you are using Windows and trying to copy an image file from file system? If so, you can try to drag and drop the file instead.
-
Can you provide a Debug ID for it happening? A video would also be very helpful.
-
We need the PDF or at least the specific page where the issue can be reproduced.
-
In Preview.app (on macOS) there also are very similar strips. I doubt this can be easily fixed.
-
And if you copy and paste the same text from PDF to any text editor I guess you get the same result? How about other PDF viewers? You can send the PDF to support@zotero.org also including a link to this thread, for further investigation.
-
You can send a screenshot and the PDF file to support@zotero.org also including a link to this thread.
-
You can send the PDF to support@zotero.org also including a link to this thread. We will investigate why it can't recognize the correct page number.
-
I still can't reproduce this. Can you try with more PDFs or even on a different computer?
-
Thanks for reporting. We are aware about the issue. It will be fixed later this year.
-
Have you tried View -> Rotate Clockwise?
-
Can you send a screenshot demonstrating the issue?
-
I don't get anything when dragging image annotation into an external text editor. Normally it should do exactly the same as Markdown export (by default). We will look into that.
