Not much we can do about that. We can only suggest to delete the first page. You can do that from page thumbnails view in the sidebar.

@GaoYuhong It will be fixed in Zotero 7. Thanks for reporting.

@luxueqiang Memory leaks like this can sometimes happen, but should be very rare. Is there something unusual about your case? I.e. huge PDF files, or PDF files with large images, many annotations? Anyway, we expect most of the memory usage related…
-
@luxueqiang Could you provide specific numbers how much the memory usage grows after using PDF reader and how it changes after closing the tabs?

The highlighted height typically depends on the average character height in the line. Does this issue occur in the desktop version of Zotero? Is it also present in other PDF readers?
-
We're aware of the issue. Almost all rendering issues should be fixed once Zotero 7 is out and we update our underlying PDF reader library (PDF.js).
-
Could you upload a screenshot demonstrating the issue?
-
@gustav.kalm Q1: Could you make a video demonstrating the issue? I still can't reproduce that. Also are you using any plugins that might affect the PDF reader? If so, try to disable them.
-
@gustav.kalm - when doing a search in the internal reader on Mac, it zooms in a weird amount even when I have set the document to "Zoom to Page Height". Could you make it so that the Zoom setting stays intact when doing a search. How to reproduce th…

Does it happen with all PDFs?
-
We are aware of the issue. But I would recommend to use the "area" annotation tool since the text extracted from a formula won't be readable anyway.
-
We're aware of the issue. Thanks for reporting.

@nathan.hopson How common are documents that are mixing horizontal and vertical text in a single page?
-
1) Is the PDF file scanned and OCRed? 2) Does it happen with other PDF viewers? If so, you need to OCR the PDF file again to fix that.
-
Do you use any plugins that affect notes? If so, try to disable them.
-
@nathan.hopson We should be able to improve that. Thanks for the PDF file.
-
Could you also provide the PDF file? If so, please send it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.

Could you provide a screenshot?

If Zotero PDF reader shows this error, the file is either empty or corrupted. Are you syncing files to Zotero cloud storage?
-
@Tremolophage Does the problem exist if you open them with https://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/web/viewer.html ? If not, the issue will be fixed in Zotero 7.
-
I get the same result with other PDF viewers (Acrobat Reader, Preview). The PDF text layer is broken.
-
The issue will probably be fixed in Zotero 7.
-
Is there a reason why you don't use Zotero iOS app for this workflow?
-
Please send the annotated PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.

The scan quality of this OCR-ed PDF is very poor. Other PDF viewers may let you highlight the text, but the result will not be accurate either. Zotero PDF reader does more than other PDF readers. I.e. it extracts annotation text. Text lines that are…

For note items that should be fixed in Zotero 7. Although attachment notes don't support images, and we'll just prevent inserting the gray square in future versions.
-
OCRing software normally can fix the rotation, but in your case I guess it's complicated because two physical pages are in a single image.
-
The problem is that the text is not aligned to horizontal or vertical axis.
