The compression is probably aggressively removing fonts, and Zotero PDF reader doesn't have fallback fonts. Most likely the issue will be fixed in Zotero 7.
-
In the future, it will be possible to drop multiple selected annotations on a tag.
-
Citations that have already been inserted into notes can only be updated individually through the citation dialog.
-
Future Zotero versions will behave according to the standard. Thanks for reporting.
-
If you are talking about dragging an annotation from Zotero PDF reader, you can fix the page number by double-clicking it directly on the annotation in the PDF reader.
-
The right pane is not supported in a standalone PDF reader window.
-
Link annotations in the PDF file are specifically configured to display those red rectangles. From a technical standpoint, readers that display them are considered more "correct". However, future versions of the Zotero PDF viewer likely won't displa…
-
It appears that the PDF viewer used to create the annotations has produced invalid data, causing the Zotero annotation importer to crash. However, other viewers are still capable of displaying these annotations. We will try to do that in the future …

Could you send an example PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?
-
Is that a scanned paper? Likely it has a poorly OCRed text layer. Does it happen with other PDF viewers as well?
-
1) Could you make a screenshot demonstrating the issue? 2) Does it happen with all PDF files?
-
Then, very likely, this will be fixed in Zotero 7.
-
Does the problem still exists if you open the PDF file with online PDF.js viewer?
-
@LVS04 Zotero uses Firefox PDF viewer which is not optimized for extremely large pages that are produced when saving a web page, therefore it has to reduce resolution. Even Adobe Reader complains about the dimensions of the page.
-
Does the same problem appear if you open the PDF file with online PDF.js viewer?
-
Do you have a large screen and HiDPI resolution? Could you send an example PDF to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?
-
We'll try to improve that — thanks.
-
Are they underlines or highlights when you open the PDF file with an external PDF viewer? Zotero currently doesn't import underline annotations, only displays them as highlights.
-
@lorenzo_avellino It seems the PDF file isn't OCRed at all. You need to process the file with OCRing software.
-
@warwickmm We'll try to improve that.
-
1) Could you make a screenshot? 2) Do you have any plugins that could affect notes?
-
@PeteGeorge Could you show an example screenshot of pasted content that involves all your mentioned formatting options. What PDF reader are you using?
-
What formats do you expect to be preserved?
-
Have you tried View → Font Size → Bigger?
-
@jesus.esteban Do you experience the same behavior if you disable all plugins?
-
Zotero itself doesn't add any links. However we can't speak for plugins that people install. Although most likely this just comes from the PDF file.

- If you create a child note and paste an image, a grey square appears, but not the image. (Insert/image menu doesn´t work either). Focus (cursor) jumps to reference instead of staying on the note. As mentioned earlier in this thread, images in atta…

We'll fix it. Thanks for reporting.

We are aware of the issue. It will be fixed in Zotero 7 release version. Thanks for reporting.
