We'll fix it — thanks. By the way, the annotation isn't actually selected, it's only focused. Pressing Tab and then using the arrow keys allows navigating through annotations and links on the current PDF page.

Yes, we currently rely on the default behavior of Firefox, on which Zotero is based. In Firefox, formatting can only be changed when the desired text is selected. However, we'll explore whether this can be improved. For instance, on Chrome and the W…

Does the issue persist when you close the reader tab and reopen it, or does it only occur when you paste new content into the comment field?
-
The PDF file text layer is broken. It happens with all readers that I tested including Acrobat Reader and Preview.app.
-
Thanks for the video! Unfortunately, this is the behavior of text selection in Firefox (upon which Zotero is based) on Windows. However, we will consider trimming the spaces around the selection when creating an annotation.
-
I can't reproduce that. 1) Does it happen with all EPUB files? 2) Could you make a screenshot (or even a video) demonstrating the issue?
-
I forgot to mention that Zotero is based on Firefox therefore they share similar behavior and sometimes we just debug on Firefox to determine if this is Zotero or Firefox problem.

Does the issue persist if you disable all third-party plugins?
-
@shriyam547 Does it work for you in Firefox on macOS?
-
@holy_aba 1) Does the error persist if you disable all third-party plugins? 2) Could you also test Zotero 7 beta?
-
Text highlighting in notes functions similarly to that in other word processors. Is there a reason the toolbar button does not meet your needs? Could you provide more details about your workflow?
-
In future there will be a delay before opening the popup. Therefore just a pass by won't open it. Could you clarify what you meant by "affects the smooth reading very unhappy"?
-
You can create an image annotation and then use the right-click menu to copy the selected area rendered as an image.
-
@mjthoraval The issue with this PDF file is weird, but we should be able to fix that. Manually setting a preview page won't be feasable, but it might be possible to automatically detect publisher's page and then preview the subsequent page instead.
-
@meesew No, we expect the Zotero 7 beta reader to work fine or even better. 1) Was this happening with all PDF files? 2) Did you have any third-party plugins enabled?
-
In Zotero 6, double-clicking the outline view tab button expands or collapses the outline. This feature is currently not working in Zotero 7, but we are planning to fix it.
-
Can you provide a Debug ID for it happening?
-
Yes, it's intentional. In the past, we tried a different approach, but many users preferred the current method because it prevents the accidental addition of notes or text annotations if you forget to disable the tool. However, we are open to sugges…

I'm curious to see if other users can also reproduce this issue. What is that input popup? Is that a standard way to enter Chinese characters? Are there other ways to enter the characters?
-
The reader part will be fixed in the next update. Other Zotero parts will be fixed in future. Thanks for reporting.
-
Does this issue occur only with this specific PDF? Could you send the PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?
-
It'll be fixed in the next update — thanks for reporting.
-
1) Does the issue occur with all snapshots, or is it specific to certain ones? 2) Can you provide a link to a website where this issue is observed?
-
Does it happen with each ink annotation or, for example, only with the long ones?
-
Currently, only the author of the annotation can modify it, and there is no workaround for this.
-
1) Does it remove the quote if you paste the same text instead of typing? 2) Does it remove the quote if you add a space before it? 3) Do you see this behavior only before the first quote or also before other characters anywhere in the note? 4) Doe…

@samvimes We'll try to improve the search. Thanks for the feedback.
-
Sounds like a good solution. We'll see if this can be implemented.
-
The single letter search was intentionally disabled for latin letters because of performance reasons. Single latin letter search gives too many results which is very rarely useful. So until we figure out a better solution we'll need to keep it as it…

Thank you for a great explanation. This is quite uncommon feature. Do you know more viewers (aside from the one you already mentioned) supporting anything like this? Can Acrobat Reader do that? You can also try to rotate all pages to the left (yo…
