Non-English characters shouldn't be a problem. Your file may be malformed (although it's unlikely given that you're able to export part of it) or some of your records may contain control characters that are not allowed in XML (you can verify this by…

Ideally, Zotero should eventually consolidate all forms of annotation and notetaking into one (easily searchable and printed in reports), with some way to generate/enter a locator, be that location in an html/pdf document, GPs locator for maps, time…

You can use Chicago no ibid style, but that style doesn't generate bibliographies, only footnotes. Or, if you need bibliography, you can customize Chicago Full Note with Bibliography style--just delete the if/else-if statements that contain ibid
-
Are you citing the same single work in two consecutive notes? If yes, that's expected behavior in Chicago.

Ticket added for only include child items of matching items option in advanced search.

Tickets added for hide non-matching items and only include child items of matching items options in advanced search.

Chicago style in Zotero uses the "Short Title" field to display titles in subsequent references. These are set automatically when the item is imported from an online database, but you have to enter it manually for now if you enter the item by hand. …

Series number is now included in all Chicago dev styles. Also, clicking "zotero edit citation" and then closing does nothing for the period problem. Works fine for me. Did you select the footnote before hitting the button? For another book in the s…

@Ikeya please provide an example of references that don't work (full citations). Series numbers are currently not included but can be added. Volume numbers should work already. Missing period at the end of a footnote is a known problem. In the shor…

I am still getting the two spaces before "edited by" in the CMS bibliography generated through the Word plugin. This should now be fixed in the dev styles. Thanks.
-
@dan many thanks. i tried to fix an extra space in Chicago and the display works now, but the updated style does not show up in Zotero Style Repo under Dev Styles--I still see the old style and the date updated is old, even though the trac timeline …

@bdarcus - You won't see this in csledit.xul, because it converts two regular spaces (as opposed to non-breaking spaces) into one - you have to test it in Word. It would be nice if such errors were visible in csledit.xul as well.
-
This is fixed in Chicago Author-Date dev style, but the fix will only work with Zotero 1.0.4 or the dev xpi

This and many other composite item types will become possible when hierarchical type structure is implemented in Zotero.

I suggested on that other thread that there be a "Only include child items of matching items" option on searches. Together that option (to narrow your matches without using the chained saved search hack I describe there) and this option (to narrow w…

Yeah except the point of this discussion is to display matching notes independently of sources which was never an option in Zotero. Hiding non-matching items would be great if you could then also hide nonmatching parents and display only matching no…
-
@dan - could we create ticket to add a "select all matching items" option on right-click of the saved search? that would allow users to tag all found items at once without having to select them manually
-
All Chicago styles include publisher location. Do you put the location in the "Place" field?
-
@dpgetman -- did you append "?sort=note" to the end of the URL?
-
As sean and tjowens note, notetaking is a very individual process, so none of the advice may work for you. I organize everything using tags and saved searches and have been pretty happy with zotero functions on this so far. I tag everything by cha…

Well, actually Zotero shouldn't sort multiple references in one citation by default. In history footnotes often refer to the whole paragraph and in that case the order of references would depend on where the quote from the source appears within the …

Journal volume numbers are not italicised. This has been fixed in Dev Styles, but now book volume numbers are also italicized which I think is incorrect. If someone can point me to a good online APA citation guide, I could probably fix most of these…

Okay, it's not in CSL schema but it is in Zotero, so if you add it it should work already.

Read instructions before downloading--there are some risks involved in running the dev version: http://dev.zotero.org/svn_and_trac_access#development_xpi

As I mention above, SBL style does not work with 1.0.3: It will work with dev xpi and with the upcoming 1.0.4 version. You can download dev xpi while you're waiting for 1.0.4 and then just install 1.0.4 on top of the dev version.

You may want to suggest adding this feature on the CSL development list: http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=117435 To view existing CSL specifications you can download svn: http://sourceforge.net/svn/?group_id=117435 More at http://dev.zotero.o…

I don't think such an option exists. According to SBL style guide subsequent citations should always include short title: http://www.sbl-site.org/assets/pdfs/SBLHS.pdf

Sorry, the ibid issue should really be solved globally in Zotero--otherwise we'd have to create a no-ibid version for each note style. But you can easily edit the existing style yourself--just delete the if/else-if statements that contain ibid.

Exhibitions aren't "publications" really; they're events. More like, say, a public speech, rather than a book. Well, there should be a way to cite exhibits in the upcoming hierarchical item types structure--Zotero currently supports presentations wh…
