  • Fine with me; I don't really use it. I'll keep you posted. Thanks. (No effect on the other thing, btw.)
  • PS: I'm still on 5.0-beta.227+b476c7c7c. I was just offered an update but declined.
  • Sorry for the confusion. In answer to your last message, I was just asking you to clarify a bit, because you asked two questions in a row: first, about the notes, then about Zutilo. As you can tell, I was momentarily confused about Zutilo. I h…
  • Sorry, that was wrong. I was mistakenly referring to the Firefox ext. I'll disable it in 5.0. But do you want me to debug with or without it? Or try both?
  • Zutilo has been disabled this whole time. It is installed.
  • No. I recall it happening when I tried to drag a snapshot from one item to another, both new items with no notes. Sometimes when I expand an item to see sub-items, sometimes for seemingly no reason at all.
  • PS: All I had to do was scroll and click on something in the main item pane, within My Library.
  • I was able to replicate the crash in one try. I enabled debugging on restart, and restarted with FF off, Chrome running. The Debug ID is D1234037946 Perhaps I shouldn't have (?) but I captured the Report ID first: 599090782
  • PS: Possibly expand, because I don't understand if closing Firefox alone is enough, or if I have to uninstall the connector, also.
  • I do have two threads. Having switching to the beta, I want to help improve it. I will save these instructions, turn on debugging, and see what happens. If you would please confirm/expand on what you said to Adam: you want me to try using Standalo…
  • Error ID: 969406375 This error was generated by a simple down-scroll in the main item list window, immediately at startup of Standalone. Thanks
  • Hello from Starbucks: no dice. Report ID: 576983631 This is not my preferred solution, but maybe it will help: I just installed chrome, and that connector works inside the BL and here.
  • It's a personal computer but since this started, I've been at the British Library, on their wifi network. I can try to import from another location like a coffee shop and report back. I use Windows Defender, nothing in addition.
  • It does not. This error report was made just after startup, not trying to import anything, with all extensions except Z connector disabled. ID report 1543138111 My last successful imports were on 6/19/17. I haven't changed any settings, or done …
  • I see that constantly, yes. About the browser settings, I don't think I do. I block most cookies, but I don't think that's unusual? I haven't had a lot of time to figure out how the connector works, and I've run out of ideas. I certainly didn't chan…
  • I am on 5.0, and I've been getting this same error message, with no errors reported in my database. This latest time, it appeared upon searching: report ID 688946954 I have also seen it while simply browsing the collection window. I will report th…
  • That was quick! Thanks! Partly for bpmcrae's benefit, I'll add that I'm really looking forward to the new stacked view for small screens. I have a small Windows tablet. The main reason I got it was that it runs Zotero natively, so no need for a 3rd…
  • Me again: I have one other, separate question. Does the new connector drop everything into the main "My Library" section, or is it able to use the folder last used in Standalone? That was another very convenient feature of Zotero for Firefox. Thank…
  • I've been quietly following this thread for a while. I've seen a lot of questions about manually attaching PDFs, but I haven't noticed anybody asking about snapshots. I very often manually attach page snapshots. Sometimes it's because the translator…
  • Just in case it means anything, the 2nd machine hadn't been synced in like 2 months, and that last file sync that was interrupted involved some deleted files.
  • Thank you. I was able to get it working, but I'll remember to try that and let you know if the problem recurs. I tried restarting, and then using "reset file sync history" and restarting again. It seems normal again now. Anyway, I can't even rem…
  • I'd rather not do this bit so publicly, but if you'd care to email me, please do so. In short, you have misread the tone. We can edit or even delete this whole thread, if I've embarrassed you somehow. I appreciated this tip, as always. I have submit…
  • ... and taking notes on them, as well. I'm a bit surprised that I need to justify the purposes for which I had assumed this tool was designed. As a teacher, I think it should be as easy to use as possible for beginners, and not create needless frust…
  • I don't know what you do online, but I look for and read rare printed books. So, yes.
  • In fact, I did not. Thanks. Please take it under consideration, all the same. This user reopens tabs every day, and almost never uses the tag pane.
  • Thank you. At least if it happens again, there's a record for the victim.
  • I left it running while I waited for your answer, and it has now, suddenly, finished the sync. So, you were right on both counts. Even though it finally worked, I don't think it is working as intended. I skipped a couple of Windows versions (Vista …
  • There's always a chance, but I let it run all night, or about 12 hours, and again all this afternoon. When I look at the Zotero directory, it seems clear that nothing has been downloaded: the database file hasn't changed size from 24,500KB. My re…
  • Yes, thank you. Cmd-Y is a Mac shortcut in Office, too, so many people would likely find it natural enough. I would. Ctrl-Y is the PC equivalent, and there are a lot of switchers.
  • I can think of a problem with this idea: Dropbox's conflict resolution is not as forgiving as Zotero's. If you make a mistake, it will be pushed to all running machines automatically. You can disable this--but why would you?--and the system keeps…
