As described by @dstillman in his response to https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/347050/#Comment_347050 Zotero finally self healed the sync. After that Papership WebDAV sync works again without further touch of the lastsync.txt file.

I can confirm that sync now has self healed the whole issues. I conflict resolution was show during the process. (Papership WebDAV sync ist working again as well) Thx for the fast response. @dstillman You are awesome...

update: The Papership "Verify Server" Action still relies on a proper updated timestamp in ``lastsync.txt`` (see above). Today verificaion failed until ``lastsync.txt`` was touched again on the WebDAV Server. This did not mend the general sync failu…

update: I tested: Syncing non breaking items of Libraries from Zotero Standalone with Zotero.org works! Manual changes in items are reflected fast. So the sync is not generally broken.

See also my last comment on the issue below on Syncing with Papership for clearance of side effects caused by 3rd party apps. https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/64967/cant-access-webdav-files-from-papership-or-zotero-org#latest

For me the Papership iOS Sync via WEBDAV worked well after the mentioned App update and without further tricks on the server for 2 month. Unless I have now a current pending sync issue from Zotero Standalone to Zotero.org since some days. I wote a …

@Zbotnik I can confirm that Papership sync works (using the lastsync.txt workaround) on a brandnew iPhone11pro max with iOS 13.1.2 and a restore from a backup of an iPhone6 without noticeable loss (errors) regarding the library. And yes speed is aw…

in short: As of today, it possible to sync Papership again! 1. adding just an empty lastsync.txt file to the zotero folder on the WebDAV storage still makes it possible to sync Papership. 2. you need to make the lastsync.txt file writable to the We…
-
Update: I actually guess that Papership stores the modification date of that lastsync.txt file and compares it to the current one. If the date does not differ, it is too lazy to sync. I figured this out because my initial sync after the touch of t…

@LimeCrusher Until the Zotero App is released (which I really welcome), The latest Papership still works with WebDAV and Groups using this workaround described by me here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/64967/cant-access-webdav-files-from-pape…

You cannot sync from Papership to Zotero if you use your own WebDAV storage because Papership is not further developed or maintained anymore. The Company that created Papership was bought by Elsevier who is estimated as one of the great limiters of …

I can confirm by today that I have this working. We use an uptodate Zotero 5 Library that syncs well from Mac Desktop Standalone 5 to our own WebDAV Server on Linux (Apache 2). We recently had issues syncing to latest Papership on iOS. We failed …

I am still waiting to reproduce it properly. On my main machine there are no issues anymore except long startup. But on an older Mavericks (MacOSX 10.9) based legacy machine I discovered it again one time, and had logging activated. This older log w…

Good to know for everybody and to find the final state here! Thank you all for your continous efforts in following up issue reports in a constant quality...

@dstillman no, I would rephrase it like this: When a save from connector was instantiated while Zotero is not running, a message popped up in the browser, that Zotero is not available (not running). The dialog offers an option to close the attem…

I have >40 folders and ~30 saved searches in the main library. I did let the library load until my "feeling" and the Finder Dock menu told me "it is not responding" and I restarted the app. I waited 30 seconds and up to a minute. About 3-5 tim…

Agreed not to generalise this. I forgot to mention, that I had only my main library and one addional library with latest changes. These were both around 10 entries and one set of three related items. I expect that noone should need to use a backup …

Afterword: It came out that I could not finally determine the cause of the issue myself. The guessed causation related of the difference related to Unicode letters may have been just a correlation. I am looking forward to improved sync in Zotero 5…

[Don't do this. See below. — D.S.] I fixed the above local issue myself using the same approach I posted here before 2015. It feels strange when you find your own former solution to a different issue in the forum and it reminds you how to find at l…

I sended the last (full) Error Protocol to your server. The ID is D378445789. I missed to clear one entry that has a snapshot of http://bza.co/buy/152826/fontself/ If you take a snapshot of that website yourself you find the crazy characters in th…

Thanks for the quick response. Yep, but I am careful in these things. Because some content that we sync to our internal WebDAV (may) contain snippets that are not smart enough to share or not smart to disclose (to say it a bit diplomatic) and I have…

@syifaazzahra Good idea! Dive into the code, strip the fields and create the matrix as GDocs. This is how OpenSource works. Do it yourself! Take your chance to become contributor (if not already). (or just create one of a type (put the UI …

Related to the last post: I now use the tipp from earlier in this thread to populate the "extras field" with a "Quote" marker, but this is not UI friendly and local helpers are not syncable and not easy when it comes to make consistency a snap. …

To wrap it up, the following strategy took me back to a proper syncing database: I relied on a backup of the database and storage of my local machine from before the clock issue. Export - Export all Entries you did after the issue inc…

Reproduced the last error after a restart and resync manually exactly under ID: 931264184. My Question is: Is this affecting only main storage or group storage as well? Group storage is not updated for or from other group members anymore d…

First of all I deleted the grousy Google attachment. Then the error occured again and the message is now more limited than before: See full error message that was sended under ID: 1911019520. This is an order to perform a manual sync: [J…

There is a not so obvious trick I use (on the Mac, could work on windows as well) : Make sure the center list of zotero standalone and the addressbar of the browser are visible in seperate windows. Now drag the favicon from the address bar di…

It would help a lot to have a matrix overview over types and their fields and a history of the development over Zotero versions. If this could reflect also the translations, you could get an idea what is going on faster (As a developer, integrator a…

Due to it is hard to find similar threads due to different wording when searching as a non native speaker, I found similar ones. I would help a lot if we could link those at the top like with github issues and weed them out. See: Feature Req…
