@joycekwc Thanks for your suggestion. I also agree with both you guys that a different workflow it would be, maybe just slightly different. I just don't have time for now (I know it's ironic I spent so much time complaining...) to explore a differen…

@dstillman okay. Got it. Will not ask others' experience anymore.
-
@dmvalmadre You reply really cheers me up! Thanks! Do you mind providing more descriptions on your workflow or some reading materials for me to follow? Maybe you can start a new thread to share your experience because I saw many were discussing the …

I've been searching and waiting for such an APP ever since I started with Zotero. But now, IMHO, it is not safe or convenient or even necessary to manage the library on a tablet, neither Android nor iOS. If you just need to access and search the li…

@PaulApril Based on your experience, are the file deleted by the merging process recoverable? I mean, are the files moved to the Trash (mac) and Recycle Bin (win)? Thanks.

Nice! Just checked and it looks to be a temporal fix. Z6's MD export is not as powerful or customizable as MDnotes, at least for now. So, will see how Z6 evolves in the future.

@joycekwc Thanks for your suggestions. But it is not as simple as disabling the internal reader. In fact, the internal reader is not bad at all. I tried myself. Downgrading to 5 is the easiest and most stable solution to me, for now at least. 6 has…

@LilSizzle I'm also not familiar with the template either, but a simple check looks you are missing an `elseif` or `endif` after the second line.
-
@adamsmith Yes, you're correct. I deleted my last message to avoid further distraction.

So, is there any timeline that Zotfile's full extraction functions will be implemented, not just those so-called main functions as claimed here?
-
Will it keep working with Z5 in the meanwhile?

Deleted.

@ajcj The exactly same issue led me to downgrade to the last Zotero 5 version, just FYI.
-
@AbeJellinek Actually, the last issue that pushed me back is how annotations are extracted. Those available template are very limited now and the documents are not complete enough to let me customize my extraction flows. According to the discussions…

@AbeJellinek Thanks for the reminding. I'm aware about those drawbacks already. My issues are broad, not just one or two functions. I read most discussions in the forum recently. Basically we are all facing the same issue. To make an annotator, you…

Just kidding but maybe it should be considered to rename Zotero 6 to something like `zotero-super` or `zotero-reader` or `zotero-annotator`, to clearly state what breaking changes it has introduced. And of course, it was my bad forget reading the re…

I just tried using the new annotator. It's nice and smooth, feels much better than the acrobat I'm using. > "The question asked here is just how/where to make those export options quickly accessible." Yes, it would be convenient to have a butto…

Just read through the documents and want to make it clear (correct me if I'm wrong): 1. "File -> Export PDF..." will export PDFs with all notes in PDF, but create new files. This operation has been in batch for a long time I know. 2. "File ->…

This is a figure illustrating my idea of showing Notes, Tags, and Related in the same column. https://ibb.co/87C9yGQ

You can just disable the build-in pdf annotator and use an external one. There are discussions about this before, I remember the main reason is that notes need to be in the database to support some advanced Zotero functions like searching (not sur…

@dstillman Okay. It may be my fault to use the word "excuse" and also my expression, but you misunderstood me about my opinion. I'm not saying it's bad to have an embedded pdf annotator. As you said, I also realized it's not for me, at least not f…

Seems Zotero is evolving following the path of firefox. I mean, it's not good. @dstillman You could use the excuse that not many feedbacks about table were provided. But you cannot eliminate the possibility that most heavy users may have no interes…

@ZenonMarko Yeah you're right. But I guess either way will be impractical. To detect if the file is being edited by another process should be a OS-related editing lock or something similar. I don't see an easy solution to this potential confliction…

Me too would like an option to auto import and export annotations. I guess this should require more resources and can be unreliable or unstable. Also, since it involves with some "more advanced functionality and fast syncing", I would say add an…

1. Before doing the following suggestions, backup your entire Zotero data folder and Zotfile attachment folder. 2. Disconnect to internet before any manual operation on folders. Re-connect after you've done, and wait for long enough to let it sync…

@cdewitt Set `extensions.zotfile.pdfExtraction.formatNoteTitle` in config editor to empty value.

It may not be directly helpful to your problem, but my two cents are that you should use the tag system maybe. Organizing items in a tree-structure collection is basically not much different from organizing them outside of Zotero. Just try the nonli…

@dstillman Thanks very much for the reply. It's glad to have your words that those annotations will never be locked in, even though I know this but it still feels very nice to hear it again! I see your point. It's my bad that didn't express myself …

Assuming you're already very familiar with Zotero + Zotfile, then here is the hint. When you got hundreds or thousands of files as attachment links in Zotero while they are saved in a cloud drive, they have different hierarchical structures. It co…

Thanks. I think I got to know the details from this introduction as well. To me, those bonus are just not appealing and some are even distracting.
