Oh, the right-click connector menu on a reference list is something rarely ever use, and thus never teach. Great suggestion!

Just chiming in here to say how much I love this community. Came here to report the same problem that I and the two dozen students I was teaching yesterday afternoon experienced, only to find out it's already been fixed. @dstillman @adomasven, y'all…

Thanks for the explanation! This makes sense.

I came here with a similar question, but looked into the sources @bwiernik suggested and confirmed. Here's a clearer explanation for whoever might have the same question: "As you can see in the table above, the titles of works that stand alone (suc…

Thanks to you both for looking into this. @DWL-SDCA were you able to make contact with anyone at C&RL? I had an email exchange with the editor last fall about the issue, but neither she nor the sysadmin were able to fix it.

Thanks for the explanation. I totally understand now and will recommend Juris-M.

I love this community. Thanks, @adamsmith @bwiernik!

Thanks, all. So the Extra field solutions @bwiernik mentioned won't currently work with Chicago? I'm AFK and can't test at the moment.

For anyone who comes along after this, I've written this up on my guide: http://guides.zsr.wfu.edu/zotero/annotated-bib

Good to know, especially that libreoffice allows independent editing. Thank you!

This should get you there. https://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data

An update to reflect what happens with attachments: When saving using the HeinOnline translator (either by simply clicking the save icon or right-clicking on the save icon and explicitly selecting HeinOnline), two exact duplicate entries are saved, …

Coming here to report the same issue with HeinOnline. Looks like saving using the HeinOnline translator results in duplicate items being added, sans snapshot, but saving via COinS only pulls one instance, with a snapshot. I haven't noticed this anyw…

Documenting another thing I tried: after disabling attachment syncing and purging my file storage in my web settings, I turned attachment syncing back on and initiated a sync. The existing PDF attachments did not sync to my library or to My Publicat…

Just verified by turning on file syncing via Zotero. The items linked to the associated PDFs just fine, but I immediately exceeded my storage quota. I purged my file storage via the web settings, then re-tested: they no longer link.
-
I'm experiencing something very similar: https://www.zotero.org/denlinkd#F2Q9R34K This is not linking to a PDF when I think it should. I do have attachment syncing turned off, but explicitly told My Publications to share this PDF CC-BY.

Disregard. He didn't have updated browsers--I'd forgotten to check that.

Serendip-o-matic used to do exactly this, but it no longer seems to be receiving updates and gives me an error. Anyone know of the status of this, or if the team intends to revive it?

@KatieGK @mgh10100, doesn't look like this is going to make it to the repository, but you can go here and save the page (right click, "save as"), then go to your preferences -> cite -> click the plus sign -> search for the .csl file you sav…

@KatieGK @mgh10100 email me if you'd like the csl file while it's making its way to the repository. denlinkd at wfu.edu

I just created a pull request for this. First time doing this, but it was easy enough, unless I totally botched it. Should be up soon, I guess?
-
That's a good, intuitive fix. Thanks.
-
Thanks for the clarification! Noted.

In this instance, the easiest thing to do is to set up a group library that's shared between you and your co-author, then cite from that library, not from either of your personal libraries. Obviously, if you're pretty far into a big manuscript proj…

Hey guys, any word on a potential release date for 5.0? No word on this for a while, it seems. I'm already starting to get training requests for the fall semester and I'd love to know if I should expect to be doing at least another semester of 4.x …

That whole thread makes me very happy. Thanks for your work on this.

Sorry, should've clarified: zotero.org/groups, but before login. In Chrome, a duplicate embed of the video stretches across the top nav banner and both instances begin playing: screenshot In FF, the embedded video disappears, but two instances se…

I agree that the example on p. 94 is sloppy, but we're also not led to believe that it's not the paper copy. Going with their stated rule, not the examples: "If your source offers URLs that it says are stable (sometimes called permalinks), use th…

Hey Sebastian, any updates on this? I just did some testing with URLs, DOIs, and page numbers. Here's what I found, and what I think still needs fixing: if record includes page numbers, then DOI, URL, and database name are ignored and are not inclu…

Specific request for an update to CSE Citation-Name (numeric, sorted alphabetically): https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=council of science editors, citation-name Currently it leaves out the journal title/abbreviation, for some reason. I really need…
