All I can add as a final observation is that the context menu you reproduce is clearly that of an attachment item; i.e. other items that would also be present in the case of a context menu of a parent item, e.g. 'Add attachment', are equally absent…
-
Ok, it looks like you're selecting an attachment rather than the parent item?
-
You first need to be in the sub-collection... 1/ Select the item(s) you want to remove from the sub-collection 2/ Right click on the item (context menu) and select 'Remove item(s) from collection' 3/ Select 'OK' to confirm or 'Cancel' to abandon …

Thank you @dstillman for your careful consideration and response to the comments in this discussion. I appreciate the points you make in support of the recent changes but look forward to being able to change existing attachment titles via batch-edi…

I have to say I agree with the OP and the other previous commentator and that I don't think the recent change in re-naming practice of attachments is to be welcomed. My use case is one of attaching linked files, which are named according to a local…

OK, thanks, missed that one

As indeed it does to me. But it remains the case that there is no explicit indication between the Quick search and the Advanced one as to what is being operated on (local v. global view) as opposed to the fairly intuitive expectation that the latte…

Thanks for the quick reply. I quite see the points you make in response to 1/, but also suggest it might be helpful to amplify the guidance in the search box itself with a, e.g. 'Search local view', tag in the drop-down menu for the three current o…

I too am seeing altered behaviour wrt collection highlighting; however, not exactly the same as OP. (Zotero 6.0.15) What I'm finding is that if I have an item in say, five, collections then pressing the ALT key only ever highlights the collection…

So 1/ could be addressed by sorting related items by page numbers? (Arguably there is also a case for adding a Secondary Sort (Pages) to the column options in the middle pane of the standard view.)
-
Moving to relative paths was painless (took a little while) but was without incident; it's a mature part of Zotero. Yes, your PDFs will always physically be in a particular place in the file-system but the way you specify this can be done in one o…

So, I have now installed the current beta as referenced above and tried the new 'Create Book Section' option and it seems a very useful addition. A number of questions come to mind: 1/ Could this functionality be extended to other Item Types, plea…
-
I haven't tried the beta (yet) but on the last point I would prefer chapters to be only related to the parent volume rather than explicitly to each other: it is being part of the same volume that defines the relationship of the sections with each o…

I use linked files for my PDFs on a linux system and, whilst I haven't actually ever done a migration between two systems, I can't see that you would have any problems with the procedure you describe. Actually, Zotero can be a bit more flexible tha…

Looking further there are other examples of mis-sorting. So, with the same ascending sorting order as previously, I see, for example, call numbers in the following order: PC4074.7 .P46 2000 PC4075 PC43 .O95 2016 PC45 .P4 1976 PC4075 .P69 2001 (In…

@dstillman: With Zotero 6.0.6 (which improves further on the beta in place at the time of your first comment, Zotero-6.0.6-beta.4+89aaa1050) LoC sorting is now significantly improved, thank you. I have noticed one problem, however. As an example, …

It didn't, it changed in Zotero 6.0.5; see my comments in https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/96616/changes-to-sorting-by-call-number-in-zotero-6-0-5#latest

Just upgraded to 6.0.3. The 'Date Modified' column is now visible again, so the problem does indeed appear to be fixed. Many thanks for this!

Here it is - just after re-starting Zotero. Report ID is 2101460563

^and sorted digitally^and sorted decimally (Original post now edited)

I believe there are similar issues with respect to LoC call numbers as well, as I am seeing similar (mis-)orderings as OP. However, the LoC case is a bit more complicated, as I understand it, in that the first (classification) field should be sorte…

I now remember that I had previously posted on this but I see that it didn't make too much of an impact then ... https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/67427/feature-request-make-recursivecollections-hidden-preference-availabile-in-collection-contex…
-
The behaviour you expect is available but it's neither the default nor easy to locate. You need to set the hidden preference 'extensions.zotero.recursiveCollections' to true by opening up the Preferences within Zotero, selecting the Advanced tab an…

Well, that clears that one up then ..., thanks very much. I'll pursue the git building aspect when I get some time and if there seems any gain in doing so. Thanks again.

4.0.29.10 standalone is from the official zotero.org distribution. I have found that results vary depending on how zotero from that distribution is started: a) failing to open snapshots, view online, etc: $ ./run-zotero.sh $ lsof | grep zotero |…

Thanks for the quick response. Using git is mainly historical but until now there have not been any build problems except with a too-recent version of xulrunner. I have now tried 4.0.29.10 standalone with 4.0.29.11 as the firefox(48.0) con…

Currently getting a 404 on https://github.com/ndrsn/zotero-classify-articles.

As a suggestion you might try changing the value for 'Automatically remove items in the trash deleted more than days ago' under the General tab within Zotero Preferences to 0 and then re-start Zotero.
